Zimbabwean journalist and political prisoner Blessed Mhlanga will be at the High Court tomorrow morning, where his legal team, led by Chris Mhike, will be appealing against the magistrate’s ruling denying him bail.

Blessed Mhlanga is a journalist being persecuted simply for practising journalism, a right enshrined in the Zimbabwean constitution.

Could all those in Harare who have time go and show him solidarity and support🙏🏿🙏🏿

It means a lot to come to court and see that the nation is behind you.
Prison is a very lonely place, especially when you are being politically persecuted, as is happening to Blessed!

This is the second letter written by Zimbabwe’s Attorney General Virginia Mabhiza to the Post Office Savings Bank, this time it was addressed to the POSB Board and its Chief Executive.
It is part of the documents that Jealosy Mawarire produced on Blessed Mhlanga’s television show in an interview.

In it, the attorney general was introducing the corrupt outfit called HIG Investment Group fronted by Morris Brown Gwedegwe who was expelled from the Anglican Church over allegations of embezzlement.
She also instructed that the outfit gets to meet staff and directed that it gets access to the vaults.

After the broadcast of the interview that Blessed Mhlanga had with the whistle blower, Jealous Mawarire, Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, tweeted that Blessed Mhlanga was going to get into trouble (for helping expose the scandal).
A few days later, Mhlanga was arrested, denied bail, and jailed.
He has not committed a crime; he is simply being punished for helping expose this corrupt scandal!

This evening, I will be on @SABCNews, channel 404, at 7:30 PM (Zim time) discussing the continued persecution of Zimbabwean journalist and political prisoner Blessed Mhlanga.

I will talk about how his journalism and platform saved a publicly owned bank, the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB), from being stolen, and how a board meeting to finalise the deal was cancelled after HSTV broadcast Mhlanga’s interview with Jealousy Mawarire, who produced the documents, including a letter by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa aiding the corrupt deal.

Consequent to President Mnangagwa’s corrupt directive to Zimbabwe’s Attorney General and his trusted aide for years, Virginia Mabhiza, to create a pathway to steal the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB), the Attorney General wrote this letter to the Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

The aggressive letter was labelled CONFIDENTIAL to prevent the details from being leaked.

She instructed the CEO to work with the so called HIG Investment Group, fronted by one of Mnangagwa’s corrupt lieutenants, Morris Brown Gwedegwe.

Morris Brown Gwedegwe was expelled from the Anglican Church over allegations of embezzlement.
Despite this, in May 2019, President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed him to the Zimbabwe Defence Commission.

In October 2022, Gwedegwe attended the ZANU PF 7th National People’s Congress, claiming to represent the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC).
The ZCC later disassociated itself from him, stating that they had not sent any representative to the event.

Mabhiza instructed the POSB CEO to open the bank’s vaults to Gwedengwe and his team.

Bank vaults store valuable items such as cash, which includes large sums of money that need to be securely stored.
They also hold important documents, including legal papers, contracts, and deeds.
Gold and precious metals, such as bars, coins, and other valuable metals, are also commonly stored in vaults.

This scandal is the real reason why Zimbabwean journalist and now political prisoner Blessed Mhlanga was arrested and jailed, after he gave a television platform to Jealousy Mawarire, who blew the whistle on this attempted bank theft during Mhlanga’s programme.

I will share more documentation (on this scandal) that has been given to me by government officials who are fed up with Mnangagwa’s looting and plundering of state assets using criminal elements purported to be businessmen.

This is the letter written by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the country’s Attorney General, Virginia Mabhiza, directing her to facilitate the theft of the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB).

The letter was produced by political activist Jealousy Mawarire during an interview with jailed journalist and political prisoner Blessed Mhlanga, which led to Mhlanga’s arrest.

Immediately after the interview, Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, posted on Twitter (X) that Mhlanga’s interview would lead to his arrest—and it did.

All state media outlets were instructed not to give Mawarire access for interviews.
Judicial officers were also instructed to do whatever was possible to ensure that Mhlanga did not get bail.

Mhlanga didn’t commit any crime, he was arrested for simply doing his job as a journalist.

I will post more documents about this scandal, given to me by people in government who are fed up with Mnangagwa’s corruption and his looting of state assets through corrupt individuals with no track record in business!

The Zimbabwean State is planning to seek a postponement of the bail hearing appeal for Zimbabwean journalist and political prisoner Blessed Mhlanga as a way to punish him because it knows he has no case.

Blessed was arrested, denied bail at the magistrates’ court, and jailed for supposedly transmitting inciteful content.

However, the real reason for his arrest is the interview below, in which he hosted Jealousy Mawarire, who exposed the plan to steal the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB).
Mawarire produced a letter written by Emmerson Mnangagwa to Attorney General Virginia Mabhiza on Mhlanga’s programme during the interview.

Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, immediately tweeted that Mhlanga was going to be arrested for that interview.
Blessed Mhlanga did not commit any crime, journalists should not be intimidated by corrupt government officials!

What Mnangagwa and his henchmen are doing is not only unconstitutional, it is evil!

Tomorrow the regime plans to seek a postponement by asking for more time simply to punish him!
