Last December, we fired our CONtractor. He assured us we would be in our house for Christmas. After a pre-drywall inspection, several building code violations were discovered. They tried to hide them. A year later, still not in our house. Don’t build in Nova Scotia!

Once we started to question the major deficiencies, they jumped on the ‘due diligence’ bandwagon. There was never any attempt to offer solutions to fix their errors.

Reading affidavit from former CONtractor/CONsultant is highly amusing. His crack legal team has gone for the oft-quoted Shaggy defence - It wasn't me!

Who forgot to install the very crucial sill plates on the slab - it wasn't me.

Who installed the roof trusses incorrectly - it wasn't me.

Who cut into a load-bearing wall - it wasn't me.

I was running a quick errand. I can check on him with my phone via the in-car camera. Another perk of #dogmode is the car is cool when I return. I think what concerned her is Tank was barking when we parked. He thought it was walk time.

I had someone confront me today about leaving my dog in the car with the windows up. I told her the A/C is on & he is fine. She said I should put a sign on the car. I told her the big screen in the car says the A/C is on. #dogmode #Tesla

As this is my last year in my 50s, I need to find a senior sport. I hate the cold so curling is out & I can’t grip a racket so pickle ball is out. I guess it’s watch the news & yell at stupid people.

With school starting soon, I’m amazed at how many parents wait at the bus stop. 1970-My mom tried to flag down the bus to stop for me & he waved back. Next day, she put a sign on me & hoped for the best. #genx

@pieceofcakecomm Hell, for our house build, having competent tradespeople showing up to work is refreshing. I can’t say that for our former contractor. They were neither competent or showing up.

Building a house is daunting. The plumber and the gas fitter are in a pissing match about who best to install a propane boiler. I can't make this 💩 up.

Advice: don’t build a house. The banks, the trades, and all the policies will fail you.

The housing crisis starts with intractable bank policies. @RBC is holding up a draw for an arbitrary 2%. Up to this point, we have paid cash for most of the build ~70%. Yet, they refuse to inform us exactly what the 2% target is.

Another failure is the inspection phase. No where has the inspector acted in our best interest. So many deficiencies overlooked.
