Bronco Nation,
I’m hoping to get a little help from the Boise State family.
I’m the President of the Battle Mountain Youth Football and Cheer League in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Unfortunately, we’re deep in UNR country—but I do my best to remind people who the little brother is.
For those unfamiliar with our community, Battle Mountain is a small mining and ranching town of roughly 4,000 people located in the heart of Nevada’s mining country, right along I-80 between Winnemucca and Elko. We’re about 4.5 hours from the Treasure Valley. Our town is built by hardworking blue-collar families, miners, ranchers, and people who put their kids and community first. Youth sports are a huge part of what brings us together.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, attended my first Boise State game in 1994, and I’ve been a ride or die ever since. My family and I are season ticket holders, and we make the drive to every home game, whether it’s an overnight trip or a long day on the road. My son and daughter even ask to go to away games as birthday presents, which usually means we squeeze in a couple of away games each season as well. I support Bronco athletics any way I can—even if that means bringing money out of Wolf Pack country and into Boise.
Today, I’m reaching out on behalf of our youth football players.
Our league is currently working to replace 150 football helmets for the kids in our program. Even with a discount of more than 50%, the cost comes to approximately $21,000. To have everything ready for the upcoming season, we need to secure the helmets before August 1.
For the last several months, our board has been working tirelessly to raise the funds. We’ve pursued grants, sought donations, and approached local businesses and mining companies. The challenge is that nearly every nonprofit organization in our small town is competing for the same limited resources.
Recently, we were encouraged by the NFL Foundation to submit a grant request through a current or former NFL player. Naturally, I put a grant request in with Ashton Jeanty, but I know those processes take time and there are no guarantees. (If anyone could get us in direct contact with Ashton, I would be forever in your debt)
So here’s my ask to Bronco Nation:
If you are a bleed blue Bronco fan, former or current Boise State player, know someone connected to the Boise State Athletic department, have ties to Broncos currently playing in the NFL, or are simply willing to help, I would be incredibly grateful. Whether it’s a donation, a contact, a share of this post, or an introduction to someone who may be able to assist, every bit helps.
I won’t pretend I’m not asking for help—I absolutely am. This isn’t about me. It’s about giving the kids in our community the opportunity to play the game safely and with equipment they deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for everything Bronco Nation does for communities near and far.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!

@JeramiahDickey I know you don’t like to talk about wrestling and baseball coming back to Boise State athletics, but, what kind of money would Bronco nation need to help raise to get them brought back?
I know there’s more to it but just a ballpark number. Maybe that would help keep people from just asking and start them into doing something about it.
@JeramiahDickey I am the president of a youth football and cheer league in northern Nevada. Does Boise state do donations for youth sports? Even youth sports outside of Idaho?
For clarification, we are only 4 hours from Boise.
I wouldn’t call it “garbage turf” but I can agree with old. Us Boise state fans have got to witness some amazing moments on that turf so it’s special to us. I wish I could have been able to afford a few squares for my kids lol. They would have loved it
Boise State is auctioning off their old garbage turf for thousands of dollars... and they're valuing the WHOLE FIELD... THAT THEY'RE RIPPING UP... at over $20 million dollars Genius NIL strategy. Gotta hand it to them
