"This franchise has helped me make friends that I never would have met, and got me through really tough times in my life," one petition signer says.

More than 400,000 people have signed a petition urging Sony and Bungie to develop Destiny 3 after Bungie ended active development of Destiny 2 with its final major update in June and shifted its focus to Marathon.

The petition, launched by @LUCKYY10P, argues that after more than a decade of the Destiny franchise, players deserve a true sequel that will "keep the fire of the Guardian spirit alive."

Should Bungie develop Destiny 3? Let us know in the comments ⬇️

BREAKING NEWS

[IGN @IGN]

Destiny 2 may be over as a live-service game, but now there's a massive Bungie FPS with a defined end point to play through without ever worrying about content updates ruining your build. https://t.co/AIiwxnLPtW

[dmg04 @A_dmg04]

@knowsworthy Feels somewhat disingenuous to place blame purely on the market without asking for accountability from leaders who made multiple years of poor decisions too, but nuance is hard to find on twitter.

Destiny 2 players call for everyone to 'show everyone what Legends are made of' one last time for the annual Bungie Day celebrations very soon. https://t.co/ppbM9GNYdy

[PlayStation @PlayStation]

The agreement to acquire Bungie has closed. So now we can officially say… welcome to the PlayStation family, @Bungie!

Interesting… bungie figure it out

[MBG @xMBGx]

From what I understand Sony isn't telling Bungie they can't make Destiny 3.

They are not greenlighting the budget Bungie is requesting to make Destiny 3, which very likely goes well past $400/500 million.

Seems Sony isn't willing to take any more financial risks on Bungie.

Ok, I volunteer I will fight literally any fucking person in Sony leadership that said this. Tarps off let’s fucking rock this shit

[KackisHD @RickKackis]

There is actually no way SONY just said this after nuking Destiny,
one of the most successful live service franchises of all time.
