We proudly present the Spring- Summer 24 AG Stöger collection: congratulations to Maximilian Kyrall, Pia Engl and Sonja Huber who brilliantly defended their Master Theses within March 2024 @BOKUvienna
We wish you all the best for your future. We miss you already!
In December, an example of #negativestaining: gold labeled maize protein body. But it did not want to close the year alone and asked the other Pictures of the Month to join. A mix of #TEM and #SEM pictures of cells, tissue and different organelles, mostly plants.
Warm congratulations to our PhD graduate Jenny @Jenn_Schw who successfully defendedher doctoral thesis today! @BioToP_PhD@BOKUvienna
May your future glow as bright as your protein bodies!
In August, summer break, we didn't spend much time at the #EM 🏖️🏔️. So we searched in files for a nice pic to post. Not very often, but we do work with samples other than plant cells: meet a #CHO cell in cross-section, showing the nucleus and other organelles.
In July, a post dedicated to plant #biotechnology. #Agrobacteria feeling comfortable in the leaf vascular bundle (arrowheads). How do you like the lignin thickenings in the #xylem (asterisk)?
EPSO welcomes the EC’s legal proposal on NGTs to the EP & Council. EPSO offers to contribute to clarifying & improving standards for evaluating the equivalence between NGTs & conventional crops on a scientific basis

In (late) June, a picture showing the contrast of the lipid bilayer: black lines for the phospholipid heads and low electrondense fatty acid tails. #plasmodesmata in developing #maizeendosperm
As the practical course continues (LV 940108 Zellbiologische Übungen) the students expressed DsRed fusion proteins in #tobacco plants in cooperation with Alexandra Castilho. Many thanks to our students for their active participation! @BOKUVienna
This week in the cell biology practical course (LV 940108 Zellbiologische Übungen) we could show some of the wonders of plant cells to our students! #meiose in pollen mother cells, pollen in honey sediment and wheat #endosperm tissue section. @BOKUvienna
