Spring cleaning?
Make fire safety part of the refresh! 🧹
1. Clear clutter inside and out. Obstacles can interfere with a safe home fire escape plan.
2. Clean dryer vents and hoses. Blocked vents can lead to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
3. Test smoke and CO alarms and replace them if they are more than 10 years old.
Small checks can prevent big mistakes. #SpringCleaning
Lots a snow over the past few days. While you’re shovelling your driveway don’t forget to clear out your vents for your heating system. Blocked vents can cause dangerous Carbon Monoxide (CO) to build up in your home.
Effective Jan 1, 2026 — Ontario’s new CO alarm requirements: CO alarms required on every storey of homes with fuel-burning appliances, fireplaces, or attached garages.
Make sure your home is ready:

You Need Both.
· Have all fuel-burning appliances inspected annually through the services of a TSSA-registered fuels contractor.
· Have working, certified CO alarms installed in your home, regularly test them, change batteries, and replace unit per manufacturer’s instruction.
Effective January 1, 2026 new Ontario Fire Code rules kick into gear for all homes and residential units that have a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage. You must have a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm:
- near each sleeping area.
- each floor without a sleeping area
It's not just your furnace. Many Ontario households can have between 4-6 fuel-burning appliances that produce carbon monoxide (CO). Visit https://t.co/bGCzsqP7fx to learn more about how to keep safe from CO.

Don’t toss lithium-ion batteries or devices in the trash or regular recycling bins—they can start a fire. Drop them off at a legit battery recycling spot —it’s safer and way
better for the planet. The Admin and Public Works offices at 4504 CY Rd 4, Centreville are a drop offs.
