@clive_mart1n It’s a fair question. Paul’s bass playing is generally overlooked. Listen to Something and concentrate on the bass line. Besides, the show works because it is conversational. You’re a fly on the wall overhearing friends sharing ideas, it needn’t be too polished.
@batcountry1980 Lovely! I’d also include John Leckie in the alchemy mix. His dropping out of Second Coming is another reason for the magic evaporating.
@batcountry1980@supersilverfox 😂 I think to be fair to them, they were badly treated by both labels. I wonder how things were with Geffen - I know Squire stuck with them for The Seahorses
@seetickets My email address for a gig tonight was wrong so I don’t have access to the tickets. The customer service option only offers to resend the tickets to the wrong email address. How can I get the tickets? I have the booking number etc. but can’t change the email typo.
@batcountry1980 I think literally any lyrics would have seemed ethereal when paired with Brian’s music at this point in time. The aching melodies weave so much emotion into every line. The Yellow Pages would have us similarly floored.
@ianbrown@ChrisexSRP1@RamzAndy This is just brilliant. Thanks, Ian. The lyrics itch that I have never quite managed to scratch is… What is the barely audible line at around 3:24 in Fools Gold. I have spent 35 years pressing my ears against speakers try to figure it out.

@renifanpage Anyone care to have a crack at the lyrics? The auto-generated ones are dross. I always felt that this was a great ‘What if?’ The ending could have been as good as Standing Here (the best outro in pop!). How come this one never got fully realised, @ianbrown
@batcountry1980 I remember having OK C on repeat when it was released, but once it fell off the list, it never really returned. The Bends, on the other hand, has remained a constant regular. I think the ‘newness’ of OK C dated fairly quickly. The same couldn’t be said for Tomorrow Never Knows.
@ElliotRoberts5 A fascinating insight. Perhaps this is the start of a new age of enlightenment. I’ve always wanted to know how George got his place in the band 🤞
@batcountry1980 I consider The Bends a far superior album. I agree that the packaging of the album is nothing new, but every single song, with John Leckie’s production, conjures magic. For me, OK Computer always felt like a band knowingly trying something new, rather than spontaneous creation.
@batcountry1980 I’ve always considered it more of a curio, rather than a bonafide part of the catalogue. Very enjoyable though. What is your take on the ‘Beatles’ sons’ (I include Giles in this) monopoly on producing the re-releases?
