@CMSGov’s 2027 proposed physician fee schedule is out, and *drumroll please*…

It’s another cut.

1.68% cut in absolute RVU rate ($32.84 down from $33.40)…
But more like 5% real cut when you adjust for the ~3.5% inflation year over year.

Multiplied over ~2.8billion RVUs/year for Medicare FFS, that’s ~$1.55billion being cut for Medicare reimbursement alone — not to mention all the insurances that use Medicare as their benchmark.

Sigh. #healthcare 😞

When you started practicing medicine in 1993, the RVU reimbursement rate was $31.60. @CMSgov is proposing that in 2027, it is $33.40.

Adjusted for inflation (+132%),
that’s a 54% cut…

No wonder you quit practicing medicine. The financials don’t make sense.
