@MikeSmythNews Speculation Tax already requires BC'ers to report to the govt how much time they spend in their family cottage or retirement home. So further erosion of privacy rights not a surprise https://t.co/97Buk2Tayk
You don't make things more affordable by making them more expensive. Taxes make things more expensive. The BC NDP has added 23 new or increased taxes since 2017 - how much more can you afford? #NotNDP
Wilkinson has called for the speculation tax to be replaced by a condo flipping tax on pre-sale contracts. https://t.co/NSY0Wikg9E #bcpoli#housingcrisis#bcelxn2020
@VicBuilders So is it true that you will be expanding the Speculation Tax by not allowing condo boards to have no rental rules for units that they enact on behalf of their owners! So seniors who enjoy travel will be stuck with a new huge unaffordable tax on their dwelling.
A drop in the bucket in province of 5 million - 212,000 arriving since 2016. Speculation Tax a cash grab on cottagers & retirees. Address real issue of municipal obstruction enabling #OakBay to have only 2 legal duplexes & zero legal secondary suites #BCelxn2020#bcpoli#bcdebate
#BCPoli#yyj mental health (root cause of homelessness etc)
Roxanne: EHT is a disinsentive for businesses to flourish. We need to review all taxes the BC NDP have brought in. Need strategic governance. Need to change speculation tax to target foreign speculators.
@EastvanTakeback @ColeBAnderson This is precisely why the BC Liberals have committed to rolling back the NDP’s phoney speculation tax (actually a vacancy tax) and replacing it with a true speculation tax that would actually protect the market.
“Prices right now are rising at an uncomfortable rate” https://t.co/2ejR5OIlNF Horgan's Speculation Tax ineffective. He won't address real issue which is BC's rising population & municipalities like #OakBay choking supply https://t.co/2ejR5OIlNF #Saanich#VictoriaBC#yyj#bcpoli
B.C. Privacy Commissioner ruled the Ministry of Finance can collect, use and disclose taxpayers’ personal information under the Speculation and Vacancy Tax Act (SVTA)
“They just delegated an administrator to collect whatever he bloody well felt necessary”

The speculation tax penalizes hard working British Columbians that have a second property
It does not do anything to stop property flipping for quick profits

Here's the thing, the speculation tax didn't really work, it just put money in the government's pocket. We need policy that actually achieves its goal, making housing affordable and accessible for those who live here.
This has been our 3.5 year trial of an NDP government. Our taxes are up and public safety is down, our taxes are up and so is rent. There’s more homelessness, not less. I’m not waiting another 4 years, I’m voting #NotNDP this election.
It is amazing to think that there have been 23 tax increases since the @bcndp took office
That isn't sustainable for British Columbia's families

@RickFuerst@jasjohalbc If you’re talking the speculation tax... that was long overdue. Not entirely favouring how it was implemented (taxing second homes is problematic) but the overarching idea of getting rid of Chinese criminals is admirable
