Thousands of DC residents have spoken, marched, and protested. When will the mayor and the Council listen? It's PAST TIME to defund the DC Police and ban the use of stop-and-frisk.

Good catch here by @Meagan_Flynn. White’s bill drew concerns from MPD brass, who said it would be too logistically complicated to expect D.C. officers to document the names of federal agents, especially when they have to secure a crime scene, collect evidence, etc.
Tho at the same time, Bowser is vetoing @CMRobertWhiteDC's legislation that required MPD to document the federal officers at the scenes of arrest or when there's a use of force, her spoxes say
Even though the official federal takeover ended months ago DC residents have continued to endure occupation by federal agents, ICE, and the national guard -all of this voluntarily aided and abetted by DC police
DC residents have been forced to beg their representatives and leaders for answers and accountability from a police force that has already inflicted decades of harm - a force that just last year happily rehired two convicted murderers after they were pardoned by Donald Trump
Remember that not only are there hundreds of witnesses and videos documenting MPD handing people over to ICE, patrolling with ICE, and riding in the same cars as ICE-there are in-depth investigations detailing MPD-ICE collaboration published by both NYT and the Washington Post
Finally the DC Council is holding a hearing on the collaboration between DC MPD and ICE and the @MayorBowser is not only refusing to show up but won’t send anyone from the executive to defend her truly abhorrent cooperation with fascists terrorizing DC. Resign already.
Federal law enforcement and National Guard are occupying our streets with the full cooperation of DC police and our mayor.

Appreciate this reporting from @emmauber7 but baffled that it doesn't mention that this also violates DC law, not just MPD policy. The law was significantly weakened by the Council last year but still only permits car chases if "immediately necessary to protect another person"
The US Park Police has started 10 police pursuits for traffic or non-violent crimes in the last three weeks. 6 have ended with crashes. https://t.co/c9TOACmoLu
Bowser did not directly respond on whether the results will be shared with the federal gov., potentially allowing it to target encampments. “We don’t expect that we’re gonna have homeless encampments, and we are gonna work to make sure people can come into shelter,” she said.
Bowser seems to hint that she'd be OK with the federal surge continuing beyond the initial 30 days. "I think we're going to have officers. We want to enhance our officer presence," she says.
