This should challenge us each time we talk about development financing - illicit financial flows, tax, debt, trade, investment & Aid @AFRODAD2011@DeproseM@crystalsimeoni
All systems go for the 2023 IMF and WB Spring Meetings in Washington D.C. good warm up session this morning with the IMF Africa EDs and lunch with friends from @DevReimagined, @CGDev, and FDL. We're all about #AfricaRuleMaker this Spring Meetings.
On this day, six years ago,we successfully launched the Stop The Bleeding campaign - @StopIFF - in #Burundi.
The event was endorsed by the then Ministry of Interior and Patriotic Training, with support of @TaxJusticeAfric and @ICEDBurundi . 7 years after this memorable event, it is worthy recalling the @BurundiGov to implement the campaign's recommendations including Domestic Resource Mobilisation (#DRM) and the fight against illicit financial flows for sustainable development.
Today, I am glad that several stakeholders have endorsed the campaign and have been engaging themeselves in several impactful actions and activities including advocacy and parliamentary debates on #taxdodging. Thus, 40 MPs and some CSOs leaders have, so far, joined the African Parliamentary Network on Illicit Financial Flows ( #APNIFFT ) to associate their voices in tackling Illicit financial flows and tax injustice in #Africa.
As the #summitfordemocracy starts the US needs to stop being a black hole for illicit financial flows from the Global South. We need a strong beneficial ownership registry, and end the impunity of enablers. @SecYellen@StopIFF@FACTCoalition Glad to sign: https://t.co/6hdvUC1o0H

Botswana is the biggest producer of diamonds globally
Her currency is named after her precious natural resource
Guess what, it is not diamonds. Pula means rain 🌧️
As we reflect on the impact of the climate crisis, the Botswana story is quite interesting 🤔
