BREAKING!
Iran just struck US targets in Kuwait after the US struck Qeshm today. Also, alarms just went off in Bahrain, seems Iran is striking there too.
Iranian source tells me Iran has stopped playing the tit-for-tat game. Instead, it's now striking back "at least 1.5x as hard" for every attack the US against Iran.
fun fact: the NYT hasn't had a breaking news headline about a bombing in Gaza (~1000 killed by US/Israel since Oct 2025) or Lebanon (3,400+ killed by US/Israel since Oct 2025) since Oct 2025.
💢 NEW: A senior Iranian official tells Drop Site another U.S. attack is likely
🔸 “Based on current assessments, another military attack seems likely,” the official tells Jeremy Scahill
🔸 Says Trump’s blockade has failed to achieve its goals
🔸Adds Trump “can’t keep the blockade going much longer” — increasing pressure to act
🔸 Warns the U.S. will likely escalate to try to force a result
🔹Expects escalation to focus on:
➤ Hormuz and Iran’s coastline
➤ Expanded military operations
➤ A new wave of assassinations of Iranian leaders, potentially with Israel
🔹Why Iran thinks this:
➤ Trump can’t sustain the blockade indefinitely
➤ He needs a visible outcome or ‘win’
➤ Escalation becomes the fallback option
🔹Iran’s posture in response:
➤ Preparing for retaliation across the region
➤ Has rebuilt defenses during the ceasefire
➤ And developed new target lists

🇫🇷 Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of France’s left-wing La France Insoumise, announced today (Sunday) he will run for president in 2027, his fourth bid for the office. “Yes, I am a candidate,” the 74-year-old told TF1.
With President Emmanuel Macron term-limited and far right candidate Marine Le Pen facing a five-year ban from public office over EU funds embezzlement (currently under appeal), the race is increasingly open. Mélenchon narrowly missed the 2022 runoff by 1.2 points.
On domestic policy, he pledges to replace the Fifth Republic with a “Sixth Republic” by convening a constituent assembly, and employing citizen-initiated and recall referendums as the two major tools of “popular intervention.”
On foreign policy, he is a vocal critic of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and also backs Spain’s stance against the U.S.-Israel war on Iran.
He advocates for a non-aligned France guided by international law, withdrawal from NATO, an arms embargo on Israel, and suspension of the EU-Israel trade agreement. “Israel’s economy cannot survive without Europe,” he said today.
Elections are set to take place in April next year.
👇Kudos to @jeremyscahill for interviewing @hasanahmadian.
Academic voices like his from Iran offer a clear, articulate perspective on Iranian strategy, politics, and society, essential for understanding this conflict and any path to lasting stability and de-escalation.
⭕️ NEW: The U.S. military has intercepted at least three Iranian oil tankers in Asian waters near India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka in recent days, redirecting them as part of its naval blockade on Iran, according to Reuters.
The supertanker Dorena, last tracked off southern India days earlier, is confirmed by U.S. Central Command to be under Navy escort in the Indian Ocean. Other vessels, including the Deep Sea (last seen off Malaysia about a week ago) and the Sevin (last tracked near Malaysia weeks earlier), were reported intercepted by shipping sources but not officially confirmed. A fourth tanker, Derya, may also have been stopped after last being tracked off India’s west coast on Friday.
These actions follow earlier U.S. interdictions: on April 19, U.S. forces disabled and boarded the Iranian-flagged cargo ship M/V Touska in the Gulf of Oman after a six-hour standoff, and on April 21 boarded the sanctioned tanker M/T Tifani in the Indian Ocean. The Pentagon described the latter as a “right-of-visit” operation, with the vessel reportedly carrying Iranian oil bound for China.
If the words “Nicholas Sandmann” mean anything to news outlets out there, you might want to think about correcting your articles reporting that Trump arrested relatives of Qasem Soleimani.
The women are not related to him and it is now knowable that they are not. Continuing to leave up articles claiming they are is a choice.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has welcomed dialogue and agreement and continues to do so. Breach of commitments, blockade and threats are main obstacles to genuine negotiations. World sees your endless hypocritical rhetoric and contradiction between claims and actions.
