(4) Laying off a unit member in retaliation for engaging in concerted protected activity. By these actions, StoryCorps is undermining the employees’ protected rights and discouraging their engagement in Union activities.

The StoryCorps Union has informed StoryCorps that, after rejected invitations to conversation, providing opportunity to remedy these layoffs and come to the table in good faith, StoryCorps has led us to file legal cases against them with the National Labor Relations Board.

(2) Refusing to provide information to the Union; (3) Laying off a steward on the basis of his position in the Union; and

The charges are as follows: 

StoryCorps, through its agents, officers, and/or representatives have violated the Act by (1) Making unilateral changes to the terms and conditions of employment without bargaining with the Union when implementing layoffs in the unit;

After management shut down the union’s attempts to update staff at a recent org-wide meeting, we have come to this space to update our community on both the union and management’s actions post-layoffs.
