Blaming the algorithm won't save employers anymore - under CTs new CART Act, companies using AI in hiring can no longer escape discrimination liability by blaming third-party vendor software. https://t.co/doAxLHKo9X
Among S&P 100 companies, just over half disclose board-level AI oversight & fewer than 1/3 disclose both oversight & a formal AI policy, which may reflect uneven governance practices amid limited regulatory guidance. @HarvardCorpGov
The @Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, is out with a major new research study showing that immigrants, both legal and illegal, contribute significantly more in taxes than they receive in public benefits.
And there's more: because immigrants (both legal and not) are such large net-contributors of tax revenue, they also structurally reduce government budget deficits.
Pricing algorithms deployed by powerful corporations are inflating prices, undermining competition, and threatening independent businesses and communities. On 3/3, Katie Wells joins @ilsr and others for a conversation on algorithmic pricing & market power.

So excited to see @FarberLaura nominated as @ABAesq President-Elect for 2026-27! She will be an outstanding leader of the ABA. My friend of nearly 30 years and I look forward to working with her.
NYC peeps (in particular):
Writing to ask a favor.
A few days ago, read this Times article about a 28 yr old in NYC, hustling to make a living.
Found his story about starting a small food business during Covid and working as a cleaner all over NYC while helping support his mom admirable.
Reached out to the reporter, who put me in touch with Tyson. We had a call yesterday and, while obviously one call doesn't mean that much, I came away thinking this is a person who deserves better opportunities in life.
Here's my ask:
Are you in a position to offer a job to a smart, personable, hard-working, high school graduate (with some college) who will grab onto that opportunity with both hands?
Would you be willing to take a call with him?
If so, please DM me your email and a sentence or two about you / your organization and I will put you in touch.
Let's see if we can help put this guy on a better life trajectory.

IMPORTANT message for everyone using Gmail.
You have been automatically OPTED IN to allow Gmail to access all your private messages & attachments to train AI models.
You have to manually turn off Smart Features in the Setting menu in TWO locations.
Retweet so every is aware.
This is a very cool paper. It first shows that first-gen college students don't realize a lot of unwritten rules that lead to success (the value of internships, student clubs, letters from professors).
But giving them access to an LLM for guidance significantly closes the gap.
