x402 sounds like a payment protocol.
But maybe the harder question is pricing.

If agents can pay per request, per answer, per dataset, per action, or per verification…

How do you price something that might be called 10 times, 10,000 times, or by another agent you never expected?

APIs used to be priced for developers.

x402 pushes us toward pricing for autonomous software.

That’s a very different market.

x402 might end up being one of the most important AI infrastructure projects people are barely talking about.

Not because of crypto hype.
Because it changes how software pays for software.

APIs, models, agents, datasets, compute, content:
everything becomes instantly purchasable over HTTP.
No accounts.
No invoices.
No API key sales process.
No enterprise contract just to test something.

The internet never really had a native payment layer.
Maybe it finally does now.
