#2. Yong S. Qui, Monday December 8, 2003.
Yong Seng Qui, age 24, was killed in Southie 21 years ago today, in the early morning hours. Yong was outside helping his uncle free his car from the snow and park on Gavin Way. In the process of helping, another neighbor’s car became stuck. Yong and his uncle stayed to help free them. Moments later, as Yong and his uncle were presumably walking home on Logan Way, four men approached the pair to rob them. Yong was stabbed in the process. EMS arrived on the scene at 1:05am, and he was pronounced dead at BMC at 2:30am. Residents of the McCormack Housing development reported hearing a loud argument around that time, but dismissed it as rowdy drunks, or teens celebrating the declaration of a snow day for BPS the next day.
