A wonderful short review of Sovereign from @StuPatience, who himself writes a great blog at Driverless Crocodile.
Luck Magnet: David Elikwu's 'Sovereign' is out now https://t.co/XsIOcpWqPm
It took 12.5 months, but I FINALLY DID IT! 📚
I wrote a book on a dangerous idea: that most of the rules we're told to follow aren't real. They're just the stories we accept about the limits of what’s possible.
For the past five years, I've been writing online about why some people follow the script while others write their own. This book is the culmination of that obsession—a deep dive into the mindset of those who build remarkable lives, particularly the traits common to successful outsiders, misfits, and underdogs.
The result is 'SOVEREIGN'. It's a playbook filled with mental models and narrative-driven lessons from history, sports, and business, designed to help you build real agency. It’s a guide to thinking more clearly, acting with conviction, and navigating the adversity that comes with choosing an unconventional path.
It’s for anyone tired of generic advice and looking for a roadmap to take deliberate control of their life and career.
Now, I have a straightforward and honest ask.
Pre-orders are the single most important factor in a book's life. They signal to the wider world that this idea matters and help it reach the people it was written for.
If my work has ever helped you think more clearly, or if you believe the world needs more people with real agency, I would be deeply grateful if you would pre-order a copy today.
You’d be giving this book its best possible start and joining a community of people committed to living with intention.
The book officially launches on September 24th, but pre-orders are open now.
Thank you for your support. It means the world.
@arvandhassan Nice. I think being surrounded by a reading culture (role models, a sense that reading is just something that "people like us" do, talking about reading) and great - i.e. fun and interesting - books are key. For getting to "take off" with fluency, phonics systems are good.
@hpatrinos Thanks for sharing! I've just realised how misleading these graphs sometimes are - Singapore's SOMS is only 10% higher than the UK but it looks more than twice as good... It seems designed to spark moral panic!
🚨New podcast just dropped on @itstheknowledge

Driverless Crocodile, Nostalgia Revisited:
Nostalgia: a kind of homesickness for the past.
Another way of putting it: the longing you will have in future for the places and people around you now.

Had a quick go with #stablediffusion's #dreamstudio - offering immediate access to a high quality image generating AI. Fun for all.

@SabinaKnight1@nameweemusic Very helpful! The Malaysian connection (I noted Malay subtitles) highlights a regional / diaspora element at play which is potentially very significant.
