Thank you to Lord Barber, @LordKirkhope and other peers for speaking up for UK pilots.

Please submit your small ideas for fixing Britain to the https://t.co/wdF4pq3aKe website. It’s a new charitable initiative I’ve set up to try and make sure life’s potholes don’t get ignored. Working with two charities and a cross party panel to turn your ideas into policy then try and make it happen. Please share.
@SwingingTripod@BradyYourTutor_ The question clearly relates to sovereign states, of which the United Kingdom is an example and its constituent parts are not.
No. The Treaty of Canterbury doesn’t support your distinction. Article 3 says “frontier”, not “land frontier”, and draws no distinction between a frontier and a border.
Both UK and Irish legislation describe our 310-mile land border as a “land frontier”. The US and Canada have a treaty that refers to their border as their “common frontier”. An International Court of Justice order also uses both “border” and “frontier” for the same international boundary in the same document.
And Getlink, Eurotunnel’s owner, explicitly told Parliament in 2018: “The Channel Tunnel provides a land border”.
@walkejar@BradyYourTutor_ Denmark borders Germany and Sweden. There is literally a bridge that people can drive or get a train across. There was a whole TV series based around a murder victim being found on the Denmark / Sweden land border.
90% of my wages have gone straight into training... there's no other realistic route into this career."
Becoming a pilot can cost £120,000+. BALPA is taking the fight for fairer funding to Westminster
It’s time the helmet went home.
Found near Caen, France, close to where Canadian forces fought during Operation Totalise in August 1944, it is a powerful reminder of the Canadians who gave their lives for Europe.
Today, this helmet begins its journey back home with @CanadianPM@MarkJCarney, carrying our gratitude and the enduring friendship between Europe and Canada 🇪🇺🇨🇦
The first time I went to an Everton match was during the FA Cup in 1989. Unfortunately, it went the wrong way.
Tonight, they didn’t disappoint.
Thanks for the invite, @andyburnham.
Thank you @LeePitcherMP for raising the First Officer Pilot apprenticeship scheme which may be retired due to low take up.
We are speaking with Skills England, willing airlines and the wider sector, to find ways to remove the barriers and deliver an apprenticeship that works.

For many of us working in public affairs, August is the time to take the lion’s share of our annual leave, before we’re barrelling into party conference season.
And for those of us working in aviation public affairs, summer is also an opportunity to be reminded that, ultimately, aviation is about something simple yet important: getting people to places they want to be.
This August, for me, that was Scandinavia. (It often is.)
Most aspiring pilots have to pay for their training, often £100k+. 1 in 7 rely on remortgaging a property, most often their parents’ home. A crazy system that needs fixing.
Credit to @LeePitcherMP and @JamesAsser MP for raising this in Parliament just before the summer recess.
