Errol Lawrence spent his working life lecturing and advocating in social housing where he taught and advised workers, communities and organisations concerned with the challenges and politics of housing.
All @StuartHallAP send our condolences to the extended Lawrence family.
Errol Lawrence - We are sad to announce that the former Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies graduate @unibirmingham has recently passed away. Lawrence had contributed to the acclaimed book, ‘The Empire Strikes Back: Race and Racism in 70s Britain’, published in 1982.
Errol Lawrence later revisited his theorising on 'racism and common-sense' in this article:
Bhattacharyya, G. (2019). Revisiting ‘common-sense’ in a time of cultivated ignorance – a conversation with Errol Lawrence. Identities, 27(1), 114–131. https://t.co/5vkuBxHwO2
@StuartHallAP Archivist Rebecca Adams visited Stuart Hall Library over the summer and picked out the catalogue in connection to Claudette Johnson's Turner Prize nomination and her well-deserved recognition. ✨
@PaulH@pardna 147: Archiving Black Life with Rebecca Adams (@Rebeccarchivist) archivist at the @StuartHallAP archives. We spoke about the importance of the archives when it comes to Black British History and the educational psychologist Mollie Hunte. https://t.co/tJW4O6tYdr
This looks to be a really great event. The Stuart Hall Archive Project (@StuartHallAP) is a fascinating new initiative that promises to shed significant light on the evolution of Hall’s intellectual life.
We've published a recent paper given by @kate4peace2021 to a conference organised by @StuartHallAP at Birmingham University, looking at Stuart's significant contribution to the early development of CND.

Sat here at the fantastic @StuartHallAP conference. The more I hear about the REF the more convinced I am that what scholars really need is the space to read, think, learn & expand our ideas. When research is bold, informed & daring, it builds communities. That’s real impact.
Thanks to @StuartHallAP and the brilliant 3 day conference got to meet my academic hero Prof Catherine Hall. Humbled to take her across the road to my exhibition #intendedforjamaica where we talked about the significant connections Boulton and Watt Archive and slavery
