Last day of placement complete! What a journey it's been 🥹 Finished with a day in brachytherapy, couldn't have asked for a better way to end 3 years of training!
Happy #worldradiographyday! Great day at @UniofSuffolk listening to some very insightful talks from patients and both diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers 😊
Today I had the fantastic opportunity of attending main theatres for my elective placement. Blown away by the skill of everyone involved! Great to see what many of our breast patients go through before coming to radiotherapy, a new level of appreciation for their strength!
Yesterday I had a chemotherapy experience day - it was great to see another side of our patients treatment, and see the steps made to ensure side effects are minimised. Also interesting to see the treatment for cancers we wouldn't usually see in radiotherapy!
Had my first day in brachytherapy today. Mind blowing! It was so nice to see different teams working together in one space. Can't wait for the next 2 days in there!
Did my first ever first day chat today - nervewracking but I'm feeling much easier now I've got the first one out the way! The past 2 weeks have been full of firsts and I'm loving being back!
Beamed on for the first time today on a linac for 3 patients! I know this will soon become routine and not a huge deal, so I'm soaking it in and feeling really proud!
Today was my 3rd day back after a 4 month break from practice. Day 1 felt daunting but its a great feeling being able to notice how much I have remembered since July 😄
First module of Y2 complete! I got my results for Radiotherapy Planning today which I am happy with despite the intense brain fog during the OSPE. It's definitely opened my eyes to the world of planning! My favourite module so far. Now onto the third anatomy and oncology module!
First day of 2nd year is complete! Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the information from today and very tired, but quite positive about starting my research methods assignments!
@KyleCoxRT@UOSRadiotherapy@uos_radiography Thank you for everything Kyle, we will all miss you so much but you've filled us with confidence and knowledge for 2nd year. All the best for your new job in Bournemouth, they will be very lucky to have you!
As the end of 1st year draws closer and the last few weeks of placement are underway, I thought I'd share some photos from the past year. So glad I chose this path and feeling confident in taking what I've learnt so far into 2nd year!
