To any artist struggling with sales and/or engagement:

In the past, many artists created art for the pure joy of it. This obviously shifted with the emergence of the internet. And more recently, web3 has fueled a further incentive for artists to create by earning money at the same time. This has created a new kind of art market where - perhaps - the motivation for some is entirely based on social recognition and the potential for making money. Obviously, there are not enough galleries, collectors, art fairs, and even LCD screens for everyone. Far from, in fact. Few will 'make it big time', most won't.
Add to that, the fact that the bull/bear of this particular market also plays a role. Something that no single person has any control over.
This is a great opportunity to ask yourself: Why do you create? What is your goal? If Twitter and Instagram died tomorrow, and if all the collectors vanished, would you still be creating?

Art is not just about hype cycles and FOMO - it's a long-term pursuit. A lifestyle. A way to learn about yourself, and the world, by stimulating your curiosity. It can be therapy and even meditation, and it can be a beautiful way to connect with others, and the list goes on.

However, if your motivation is somewhat linked to social recognition and money, don't fret. Many successful artists worked relentlessly for many years without any significant recognition. In fact, most of the greatest art we have today wasn't understood and appreciated at first. But those artists kept going because they found qualities in the pursuit that went beyond any external factors. I hope you have found the same. Keep going 🤍
