@InlandCaGuy If 100% of people that turned on Trump impeachments loses right away (I believe that will happen if Collins loses), that's a powerful message for Republicans to never waiver. There isn't even a life raft when you're coming up against a guy like Platner.
@InlandCaGuy I think we look at this differently. Maybe you see independence as some unique quality.
I see independence as a product of feeling there is potential for reward or at least not complete destruction.
Politicians are all pragmatic and self-preserving. Throwing a life raft has value
@mattyglesias Personally, I think the most concrete, red flags we have seen are his deleted posts from places like Reddit. While people can change, people with questionable beliefs usually shift to other questionable beliefs.
@InlandCaGuy Even if you're skeptical about that project, maybe I'm naive, but I personally think if you're going to put work into that project it's not a bad time to do it when it comes to someone that voted to impeach vs a downright awful candidate.
@InlandCaGuy No doubt Platner will benefit your goals short-term. But I personally think fostering independent streaks in politicians in the opposing party takes work. Collins reverted back because of the current rhetoric. Want to change that? It takes time and effort. Look at Manchin.
@AesPolitics1 Seems like you’re projecting. Platner gets something like $60k tax free annually for life… that should be enough to live on and play oyster farmer for kicks and giggles.
@long_shot_45@ggreenwald Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist Zionist
You guys are fucking weirdos... he tapped into people that are frustrated with the fires and quality of life. Personally, I think he would be bad but better than Raman
@InlandCaGuy I personally think that's a terrible instinct to have. I get it's natural (at least it seems to be for many people) but choosing a candidate based on their label or who endorses them seems like a faulty mental model. Not saying it can't be considered but shouldn't be so dominate.
@evanwch In a vacuum, I'd agree with you. But this story comes about because of all his scandals. It's not surprising they did it after his Kik messaging scandal. So I don't really subscribe to your last sentence. Most candidates never have this happen unless people start stepping forward
@Jasper_Craven Yeah and most serial killers had terrible childhoods with abusive family members... let's feel bad about that and elect them to the Senate!!!!
@danton3wuzhere@Devlinside123@mtracey He wrote a post on reddit defending military people with Nazi tattoos...
I get it... you guys don't want it to be true. You don't want him to be a bad person. But take your blinders off.
@zayplus@grok@LeftoloM@mtracey@Inglewoodjack99 She isn’t a Susan Collins surrogate… but it’s nice you like saying you won’t trust someone while spreading false info.
Also, she has texts verified about this from before it was reported on.
No need to flaunt how retarded you are.
@_everythingism@mtracey@Inglewoodjack99 She texted friends before the news broke that he had a Nazi tattoo... Do you think she figured that out herself years later and he was not aware of it?
Why are you guys such useful idiots?
@mtracey@Inglewoodjack99 “It’s a Totenkopf,” she told them on Aug. 20, according to a screenshot she shared with The Times. “An actual one.”
- So she saw his tattoo knew it was a Nazi tattoo and told friends years later... so are we supposed to guess he was still ignorant about it?
@DouglasLFarrar Draw what conclusion? That she hated a guy that they could confirm she wrote nasty things in a diary about in 2016?
What do you think her joke about campaigning against him actually means?
