@RAB8252@RSynns True. But even those attempts rarely amount to actually measuring anything. They just eyeball pictures most of the time, ignoring the inconsistencies between what they see and what a they SHOULD see on a flat earth.
@vegastarr First of all, that doesn’t happen. There’s no pressurized atmosphere next to an infinite vacuum. It’s a pressure gradient. The pressure at sea level is ≈ 1 atm. That pressure drops as you get farther and farther away from earth.
@Keetb999k Another example of a flerf conflating drop and hidden.
Under the right conditions, as explained by the photographer himself, several thousand feet of the target mountain can be visible.
You’re just racking up these failures, Keet.
@DanJRossOne@BasicHeresy@ArkEncounter The accuracy isn’t the issue. The OP calls the story of Noah the original, but it was written later. That’s the point.
@ArkEncounter Sure. The book written hundreds of years later is the original, and the book written hundreds of years earlier is a later distortion.
Um, that’s not how time works.
@HoppeandLocke@SocialismIsCrap@FTFEofficial I just think he can’t read properly. I also think he might be under the impression that escape velocity means the speed needed to get to orbit. Most of these science-illiterate morons have no idea how low earth orbit works. I’ve had several tell me that g=0 in LEO.
@AdonaiOnGaia That analogy is awful.
Have you bothered calculating the forces resulting from all of those speeds? I’m guessing not. Flerfs never even attempt math.
If you had, you’d feel like an idiot for that ant/basketball comparison.
@SocialismIsCrap@OnlyFrens11@goji400@FTFEofficial No, it doesn’t. Like I said, the government doesn’t control physics. Or math, for that matter.
And who gatekeeps your source of “knowledge?” Youtube? Twitter? TikTok?
How do you reconcile the fact that it can’t stand up to the slightest mathematical scrutiny?
@SocialismIsCrap@OnlyFrens11@goji400@FTFEofficial But he’s right. Physics is not controlled by the government. Newton’s Laws predate the US government by nearly a century, and NASA by over two and a half centuries.
More than enough time for you to read and at least try to understand them, even without the government’s help.
@SocialismIsCrap@FTFEofficial@goji400 Newton’s Laws apply everywhere. They don’t stop in the absence of air.
The rocket DOES push off of something. Its exhaust.
Combustion happens in the rocket’s combustion chamber. The force of expanding gases is directed out of the nozzle. Vectored thrust.
@SocialismIsCrap@FTFEofficial@goji400 Why not? What part of Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion is confusing to you? Do you think that the physics don’t apply in a near-vacuum?
@SocialismIsCrap@goji400@FTFEofficial Indeed. It does. As I said: Its exhaust. It’s called vectored thrust (F) resulting from exhaust gas (m) accelerating (a) out the back of the rocket. F=ma. That force requires an equal and opposite force, moving the rocket forward.
Again, Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion. Learn it.
@SocialismIsCrap@goji400@FTFEofficial No. It does not. A rocket can function in the near-vacuum of space.
Is that seriously news to you? Do you even understand what a rocket is and how it works?
@SocialismIsCrap@goji400@FTFEofficial Why is it silly? Rockets can have MILLIONS of pounds of thrust.
Yes. Rockets, especially large space rockets, can go considerably faster than jet aircraft, or any other aircraft. That includes Artemis missions, Apollo missions, space shuttle missions, Dragon missions, etc.
