who is stopping this passing attack?
QB Shedeur Sanders
QB Deshaun Watson
WR Jerry Jeudy
WR KC Concepcion
WR Denzel Boston
WR Cedric Tillman
TE Harold Fannin Jr.
Most sacks since 2020:
Myles Garrett (95.0) T.J. Watt (80.5) Trey Hendrickson (74.5)
The Cincy defensive improvements will be lipstick on a pig if they can’t block those guys.
@PaulHembo
some thoughts on Lawrence to Cincy...
<buckle up>
Dexter Lawrence is a 28-year old stud
he spent most of his career playing vs elite interior OLs of the Eagles & Cowboys
he's been double-teamed at the highest rate in the NFL
he's now playing in the AFC North
Ravens lost their C
Steelers might start a 42-yr old QB
Browns have Deshaun or Shedeur
Lawrence should FEAST
the Giants were TERRIBLE when he wasn't on the field
last year, even in a "down" year for Lawrence:
Giants defense with...
Dexter Lawrence OFF the field:
#32 YPA (8.4)
#31 sack rate (4.1%)
#27 EPA/pass (+0.13)
#26 pass success (47%)
#23 pressure rate (32%)
Dexter Lawrence ON the field:
#7 pass success (40%)
#8 YPA (6.6)
#9 sack rate (7.7%)
#10 EPA/pass (+0.09)
#22 pressure rate (33%)
that was a "down" year for Dexter
the team was top-10 vs the pass when he was out there
bottom-10 when he wasn't
want a larger sample?
last 3 years:
Dexter Lawrence OFF the field:
#32 YPA (7.7)
#31 pressure rate (29%)
#31 pass success (48%)
#30 EPA/pass (+0.14)
#30 sack rate (5.5%)
Dexter Lawrence ON the field:
#8 pass success (42%)
#8 sack rate (7.4%)
#10 EPA/pass (+0.02)
#13 YPA (7.0)
#15 pressure rate (36%)
and again, the context is VITAL:
he was obviously the #1 best player on the Giants defense
every team knew it
they double teamed him at the #1 highest rate and he STILL made this big of a difference
and that was despite playing some of the NFL's top offensive lines in the NFC East as it relates tot he Eagles and Cowboys for YEARS
oh, and then there's this pretty ridiculous nugget:
So let me get this straight: it’s a deep defensive draft… so you trade away a top 10 pick where you could lock up a younger player for up to 5 years…. for an older ( but very good) player…who can walk in 2 years as a free agent?
All I’ve tried to do for the past 2 weeks is lift people up. Raise their spirits. Make them part of this Super Bowl experience. And what do I get for my trouble? People being nasty beyond belief to me. Well we may have lost but at least I can still rest my head on the pillow tonight knowing I win and lose with class. Unlike a lot of people online. If being a jerk to me online makes you happy I’m sad for you and will pray for you. #NEPats
I was the Justin Herbert vote.
The guy had the worst offensive line in the NFL all season and despite that he was working miracles in almost every single game.
Stafford's OL became 2/5ths as bad as Herbert's for 5 minutes and he became a turnover howitzer.
He embodied 'value'.
Former five-star OL Samson Okunlola has stayed patient with his development at Miami and is now primed to play a full-time role in year four. His growth since serving in Coral Gables has been excellent. He’s emerged and only getting better.
It's abundantly clear the losers in media crying over yesterdays Jags postgame are only doing so for engagement. You guys really think you're saving the world asking coaches and players the same recycled questions after every game? Unbearable.
look, it’s a kind sentiment, but it’s not the job of a reporter to console a coach in a postgame press conference.
Pressers are to ask questions to gain a better understanding of what happened or figure out what’s next — and do it in a limited amount of time.
