Interests: social media research, research methodology, information retrieval, adverse effects, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, health technology assessment
Even though it missed many of our papers, my group emerged as the top research group in NLP for social media mining in general, not only for health, in this recently published bibliometric analysis. I am very thankful for my outstanding research team!

How do social media sites political leanings compare? Yesterday I did a poll on all the platforms I'm on (barring TikTok) the results when listed side by side are fascinating...
As they're self-selecting polls, this is less about the absolute vote and more about the relative weights of those on each platform who chose to vote
PS As these come from my social media followers, there is a possible bias there, but it is a consistent bias across platforms
Can AI help with systematic reviews?
A team at Australia's national science agency @CSIRO found AI tools are getting better than human researchers at data extraction, the most laborious step in systematic review. Elicit outperformed ChatGPT. Details in 🧵:
"The interviews suggested that the models lack both the necessary sensitivity and precision to be used without scrutiny but could be useful for topic scoping or as initial queries to be refined."
Interesting new evaluation study of LLM for systematic searching. #AI#MedLibs
@TheRealAneesh@perplexity_ai There are many. Elicit was the earliest, but there's scite assistant, Scopus Ai, Web of Science assistant etc etc. My favourite now is https://t.co/cVzThRGqHp that trades latency for quality https://t.co/q0U8uNBIVc
I am so happy to have this dedicated group of scientists working with me! We completed our second annual week-long HLP Symposium / Paper Hackathon @CedarsSinaiMed 😃 Great things will come!
When Starmer says he talked to the 'communities most impacted', he plays a sectarian game. The background to episodes of social disorder concerns all of us. While disorder is generally a sign that all is not well with democracy, it does not always arise from racism. You'd hope a former barrister would be more precise with his language, and a PM more curious about the background. https://t.co/NQ0GA70Kgk
