BREAKING NEWS:
Earl Spencer has apologised to me for his defamatory lies published in his new book, Swan Song, published today.
But I am pursuing legal action against him and his publisher Penguin to have the lies removed, and damages paid to the King’s Trust.
Nearly 30 years ago, Princess Diana gifted Prince William an Omega Seamaster for his 15th birthday, just weeks before her tragic death. Through moments of joy and grief, he has worn it ever since. A timeless reminder of a mother whose memory remains close to his heart.
10-year-old Victory Blinker who set the Guinness World Record for the youngest opera singer in the world, sings Mozart’s 'Der Holle Rache,’ considered one of the most difficult arias to sing.
If his stories were even partially true, he’d have blurted them years ago when the feelings were raw. He certainly wouldn’t have waited 30 years.
No. He’s cashing in his dead sister, who he treated appallingly in her hour of need.
Let's be clear about who won this week, because it is not close.
Earl Spencer had everything. Five days of front pages. CBS on Sunday morning. Thirty minutes on BBC One with Laura Kuenssberg. A book out today. He set out to prove that on the morning Diana died, the King was 'giddily elated', like a lottery winner.
He ended the week admitting, on camera, that he 'cannot be sure'. An assumption, from a tone, as a possibility. He told the country he knows 'lots of things' about the King that he chose not to print, and when that was called a threat, he said it was 'just the reality'. Every headline this morning is about the threat. In 2017 he said his Abbey eulogy was not aimed at anyone; last night he called it a 'direct rebuttal' of the King. His own words have done more damage to his case than the Palace ever could.
The King's contribution to all of it was a single sentence about grief and memory. Then he went back to work, in cancer treatment, at seventy-seven. His elder son's contribution was a shinty clubhouse on the Isle of Bute and not one word.
That is the scoreline. A week of talking against one sentence of silence, and the silence won. It always was going to, because the country has watched this family for twenty-nine years and knows exactly who told two boys their mother was dead, who brought her home, who walked, and who raised them.
The King didn't need to answer. Britain answered for him.
BREAKING: I am taking legal action against Earl Spencer and his publishers over demonstrable lies he has written about me in his new book, which call into question his credibility as a supposed ‘historian’ .

She was once a professional opera singer. Time may have taken her away from the stage, but the moment she began singing again, it seemed as though all those memories came rushing back. Watching her reconnect with the passion she once had was truly moving.
When Victoria Lockwood and Charles Spencer divorced, it was discovered he had started having affairs 6 months into their marriage. He had no less than 12 affairs in the 8 years they were married-he moved the family to South Africa to escape the publicity in Britain-NOTHING to do with South African Chantal Collopy, who’s husband sued Spencer for “enticement and alienation” of his wife’s affections. Collopy ended up testifying on Lockwood’s behalf, even accompanying her to court which enraged Spencer, who threatened to take back the house he’d bought Collopy. Spencer loved to be public about Lockwoods anorexia and mental health struggles, and thought he could break her. He didn’t. #CharlesSpencer #PrincessDiana
