It’s heartbreaking to see how Archaeological Survey of India @ASIGoI is facilitating the destruction of the 8th century Martand Sun temple built by Lalitaditya Muktapida in Anantnag, my home district! Sikander Shah Miri in 14th century destroyed it out of his religious fanaticism. What excuse does ASI have to let this extremely significant monument become a playground and gymnastics ground for kids, shelter for addicts, park/walkway for locals? There are no restrictions, no SOPs, no officials, no ticket counters, no security guards, absolutely nobody looking after the national heritage site. Anyone can access it at anytime, do anything they want with no institutional check! This is not only the destruction of national heritage but it’s also furthering the ethnic cleansing of my community, which is still trying to reverse it by fighting for Sharda and our other temples. Madam Minister @M_Lekhi, please intervene. Will be grateful. 🙏
