I’ve worked with and around a ton of Indian H-1B colleagues at multiple jobs and outside work, and it’s impossible to ignore the patterns anymore. From what I’ve seen firsthand, a huge portion (easily 80%+) of Indian H-1Bs involve some level of visa/immigration fraud. Here’s the typical playbook I’ve observed:
• Many come to the US on an F-1 student visa for a master’s degree, but a bunch have fraudulent or fake undergrad degrees from India to even get admitted here.
• Once in the US, a lot jump straight into “Day 1 CPT” programs (like at Maharishi University or similar shady schools) to start working immediately, or they chain F-1 → OPT → H-1B while gaming the system.
• Desi consultancies (the classic bodyshops) build entirely fake 5+ year resumes with invented job experience, fake projects, and buzzword salad to apply for contracting roles at big US companies.
• These consultancies used to pay rock-bottom salaries (bare minimum like $60k) just to meet the old H-1B prevailing wage requirements, pocketing the rest as profit. (Though the wage-based lottery changes made this harder recently.)
• When it comes to interviews for client roles, they often send a “proxy” (someone else more skilled) to clear the technical rounds while the real candidate sits silent or fakes it.
• Once on the job, they quietly outsource the actual work to cheap “support” teams back in India who do everything remotely for pennies.
• Bonus observation: In any office with free food (breakfast, lunch, snacks), they swarm it like flies – plates piled high, taking extras home. It’s a small thing, but it’s constant and noticeable.
This isn’t every single Indian person on H-1B – some are legit talented folks – but the fraud seems systemic in the consultancy/IT staffing world that dominates a huge chunk of approvals (India gets ~70%+ of H-1Bs lately).
Challenge me if I’m wrong!!! Prove me wrong with real counter-examples or data. I’ve seen this up close for years, and it’s displacing qualified Americans while gaming the system.
Thoughts? Am I just noticing patterns, or is this widespread?

Great to see the State of Texas getting involved and delivering another small victory.
Next up should be a lawsuit challenging OPT/STEM/CPT as an illegal jobs program, disguised as training program.
@KenPaxtonTX Thank you.
