September 2025 was the first complete activity map of a mouse brain during decision making.
Over half a million neurons across 95% of the organ was used. Signals light up the whole brain like a Christmas tree, no single executive region. Choice is seemingly distributed..
@OrahOnX@grok A few human studies report increases in peripheral nerve conduction velocity after caffeine. We are only talking about 10 meters per second more, but it’s a start. The cellular signaling pathways is probably where to start looking as caffeine affects those same pathways as well.
Every time a neuron fires, ions flood across a membrane at roughly 100 meters per second. That is the speed of thought.
Light is 2 million times faster, yet consciousness runs on this slow electrochemical wave.
The mind is a slow cascade that somehow still feels instantaneous..
@OrahOnX The real question here is what happens when we are able to enhance that number in humans to 200 m/s? There are some shrimp that can process at 200 m/s..
Zoom in far enough & a human body dissolves into mostly nothing.
The electrons that keep your hand from falling through a table never actually touch, they only repel.
Solidity is the story our nerves tell so we do not notice the void..
Everything changes. So must the circle of what we understand. Old certainties shrink. New questions appear. The people who keep learning aren’t chasing perfection, they’re simply staying flexible enough to meet a world that refuses to stay still..
By sheer cell count we are roughly half microbial. By gene count the microbes win by a landslide. The voice that says “I” is outnumbered & out genomed, yet it still claims the whole as its own. Where exactly does the self end & the ecosystem begin..
@OrahOnX Tardigrades typically go dormant in the harsh conditions of open space & do not reproduce there. They revive & can reproduce once conditions allow activity, especially liquid water & suitable temperatures 😀
The two most constant things in the universe seem to be darkness & temperature. Without changes in temperature you would just have darkness, an endless unchanging void with nothing to stir it.
Life only appears when temperature briefly refuses to stay the same..
@laughingorgasm Yea they do it a lot. It’s like in space there is no sound because there is no medium to propagate the waves. So many movies in space wars are done with sound effects so I think otherwise it would bore the person watching.
Space is not a freezer. It is a near perfect insulator. That’s why astronauts on spacewalks wear liquid cooled garments to remove body heat rather than heaters to add it. Low molecule density changes everything about how temperature works..
@jitendraverma__ I just mainly share perspectives! Sometimes peoples perspectives can come off brutal, however I have a near infinite capacity to want to learn so the end result for me is engagement inspires perspectives at least in terms of scientific 🙂
Cells are intelligent. One cell can sense gradients, choose actions, adapt its behavior, & cooperate or compete. Intelligence is what a system does & is measurable competence.
Which at a certain point intelligence paves the way for consciousness, its just at what point..
I just asked Grok: Lets assume for a moment that we understand everything in the universe, what now?
"Some traditions & thinkers have long pointed this out. Once the map is finished, the traveler still has to choose a destination—or decide that the traveling itself is the point."
A flock does not decide to wheel left. Each bird follows a few short range rules, & the collective motion appears as if it were chosen. Emergence is the quiet alchemy that turns pure local obedience into global intention..
Type time machine on YouTube & you’ll find fresh videos with big views.
They treat the past like its a transportation problem.
But Earth is one rock & cannot be at two separate places at the same time.
Go to the coordinates where Earth used to be & you will find only empty space.
Entropy increases in every closed system, yet living systems keep building ordered structures by exporting disorder faster than they create it.
Why the universe allows these temporary islands of order is a question that still sits quietly beneath every biological process..
