Welcome to History and Modern Studies in Dunoon Grammar. We want to share the learning of our young people. Our department vision for all - Be all you can be!
Very excited to be with our #Classicalstudies pupils at tonight's live performance of #Medea by Bard in the Botanics at our very own Dunoon Burgh Hall! Sold out venue too - glad to see our town embracing the Classics π
Lovely day in Glasgow for our class. The pupils learned how to use the library, locate useful books, and to search the catalogue and make a request. Lunch was pretty nice too! #afrikanaglasgow
It's that time of year again! Our Advanced Higher class are out to the Mitchell Library today to do research on their dissertations. Exciting to access a top level library (and Glasgow's food scene for lunch π) @dunoongs
Our S4 #Classicalstudies class rounded off a week of learning about Druidism by having a go at building their very own biscuithenge! The shelves of Morrisons were a haunting and empty space for any fans of Bourbon creams this morning #stemforkids@dunoongs
Our annual @dunoongs#classicalstudies pilgrimage to Hadrian's Wall has begun! Cracking weather for our first day, with our pupils walking the Wall from Steel Rigg to #Housesteads. Lots to learn and see, great to see our young people soaking it all up and having fun! #Romans
Our walk ended with a tour of #Housesteads fort and then off to our digs at the wonderful @TheSill Hostel for dinner and our evening game of taskmaster. Well done to Emma's team for taking this year's crown!
Pulling together our new Classical Studies library at the end of the INSET day. A useful tool to fuel interest and help the young people research the ancient world for their SQA assignments. Looking forward to welcoming our 2024-25 #classicalstudies pupils back in tomorrow!
It was more munchin' March than mad March for our S4 #Classics this week. After learning about Greek Symposia, we tried some foods that might have been on the ancient Athenian menu. Nom nom nom - it was (mostly) a tasty thumbs up! @dunoongs@classicsforall
This week our S4 #classicalstudies pupils travelled to ancient Greece via @Ubisoft 's AC Odyssey, researching topic ideas for their Nat5 assignments. The Discovery tour is a fantastic educational tool @dunoongs@classicsforall Pupils loved it - excited for the projects to come!
We are looking for a Teacher of History to join our Humanities faculty from February 19th 2024. Closing date for applications in Jan 5th.

Last week's #National5 & Higher #classicalstudies prelim exams @dunoongs. Last year we took our first 5 N5 pupils to certification. This year we're proud to have 45 young people heading towards their Classical Studies certification across both levels! @CAScotia@classicsforall
S2 have been learning about Pressure Group protests as part of our Influence unit. We welcomed officers from the MOD police who explained how they deal with protests and about their wider policing role. We heard from our local officer PC Quinn too. Thanks to all for their input.
Excellent opportunity for those interested to dig into our local heritage here in Cowal. Anyone interested is welcome! #cowal@Dunoon_Presents@dunoonisawesome
