My reason for being on Twitter was to connect with the children’s books community. While that community is wonderful, this is no longer a platform I’m comfortable using. Find me @amandadunne.bsky.social
Toxic masculinity doesn’t scream ‘approachable topic’ but @NateLessore manages to expose its ridiculousness while respecting teen readers. Using humour and intelligence, this novel provokes thought and opens minds - less Tate,* more Nate!
Honouring the heritage of fairytales, this feminist YA novel shows how one brave girl can bring down a misogynistic patriarchy when she takes control of the (actual) narrative. @WriterPolly’s engrossing novels portrays girls and boys as allies and equals - as it should be.
@ClareFurniss I’m so glad to have it to recommend, Clare, thank you. I believe in the power of empathy and your novel evokes that kind of response, we need to nurture every scrap of empathy so the future can be better.
If your teen is struggling to make sense of current world events, this excellent novel by @ClareFurniss is an intelligent, insightful and (sadly) plausible story of how right-wing populism can take hold. A cautionary tale, but most importantly, a story of hope and empathy.
Romantic, tender and insightful, this YA novel is a celebration of first love. Neon is a sweet boy, respectful and loving towards the women in his life, exactly the kind of representation we need now more than ever.
@NateLessore@CarnegieMedals @ellasaurus_ @HotKeyBooks So well deserved - congratulations, Nathanael! It’s a rare achievement to tackle a topic like toxic masculinity and make it hopeful and funny. I love the celebration of male friendship, the strong female characters - it’s a must read!
@NateLessore @HalfwayUpBooks @KidsBooksIrel This is one of those times when meeting your hero really worked out! Meeting @NateLessore was my conference highlight - thanks for indulging/tolerating me!
@rorystephencodd@bibliojacq@GillHessLtd Huge congratulations, Jacq! I can say from personal experience that you take excellent care of indies, thank you and very well done! 🎉🎉🎉
From a bookseller’s perspective, there are smaller publishers we associate with consistently interesting, quality output - Guppy is one of those publishers for me. Seize this opportunity!

Picture & idea credit to Kathleen who said the stack would be taller than I am! Each book has a personal note from me to the recipient which includes my own ‘mini blurb’ - each reader matters! It’s time-consuming but so fulfilling and sometimes I get replies which I treasure!
