Just the greatest privilege to have been this year's One County, One Book author ✍📚
GRMMA @corkcolibrary@Corkcoco for all of your work putting a whole month of events together, including this one 🥰
The Teen Literature Festival might be over, but we are still remembering all of the events that took place throughout the month of November.
In celebration of the One County One Book, Secondary School students were invited to Vertigo at Cork County Hall for book discussion with the author of ‘Freya Harte is Not Puzzle’, Méabh Collins.
And what a day it was! We’ve had Deputy Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Martin Coughlan and Senior Executive Librarian Elizabeth Desmond, who gave inspiring speeches to our young readers.
But the main star of the day was Méabh Collins herself who gave very interesting presentation on her writing history and overall process of writing a book.
We want to thank everyone that attended this lovely venue especially the students and teachers.

Bhain mé an-sult as an ócáid seo! GRMMA leis na daltaí agus na múinteoirí go léir a bhí i láthair. Tá súil agam go raibh cuid agaibh spreagtha i dtreo na scríbhneoireachta ina dhiaidh ✍💛
Inniu, bhí ár gcéad ceann de ár imeachtaí One County One Book ar líne againn leis an údar Éireannach Méabh Collins.
‘Sé 'Freya Harte is Not a Puzzle' an chéad úrscéal a scríobh Méabh agus is scéal suimiúil agus íogaireacht é faoi thaithí chailín uathach sna déaga.
Labhair Méabh faoina próiseas scríbhneoireachta agus thug sí leideanna spreagúla do dhaltaí maidir leis an scríbhneoireacht.
Bhaineamar go léir an-taitneamh as aithne a chur ar Méabh agus táimid ag súil go mór í a fheiceáil arís in imeachtaí níos déanaí sa mhí.
Tá cóipeanna de 'Freya Harte is not a Puzzle' ar fáil ó do bhrainse leabharlann áitiúla agus ó leabharlanna taistil Chontae Chorcaí.
Today, we had our first One County One Book online event with the Irish author Méabh Collins.
‘Freya Harte is Not a Puzzle’ is Méabh’s first novel and is a touching and captivating story about the experiences of an autistic teenage girl.
Méabh spoke about her writing process and she gave encouraging tips to students on writing.
We all enjoyed getting to know Méabh and we’re looking forward to see her again in future events.
Copies of ‘Freya Harte is not a Puzzle’ are available from our Cork County Library branches and mobiles.

The world is genuinely a better place with @happy_scribbler books in it. They are written with such care and sensitivity and would brighten any bookshelf 🤗
Librarians, teachers, parents and readers, to celebrate 'Wider Than the Sea' being shortlisted for The Week Junior Book Awards next Monday I thought I'd do a little giveaway. 3 bundles, with a copy of both my books in each: like, retweet and follow. Open to all till Sunday 6pm.
Winning London 😍
Working in publishing in London a few years ago is what first inspired me to try writing my own book, so it's exciting to see Freya there today 💛
It’s London baby!
Even though the good weather is gone, it’s not stopping us from taking a trip to London UK and enjoying some amazing sights this beautiful city has to offer.

Commercial fiction is often dismissed with monikers like "easy" or "beach" reads but the genre's conventions actively contribute to its socially activist potential. Read my arguments why here ⬇️
