Reminder: Parents who choose Empowerment Scholarship Accounts opt out of full school funding (FY25 = $16.5K) in exchange for approx $7.5K (non-SPED) to use towards an education tailored to their child’s needs. Don’t take scholarships away from #AZ kids. #DeclinetoSign
This is exactly what will happen in our case. It's literally stealing the opportunity for vocational ed from disabled students. We carefully planned and budgeted for many years to make this transition plan happen. It's a real chance at independence and for being self-supporting just being stolen from kids who already have so many challenges in life.
@CraigHarrisNews Wrong. Your Protect Education Act section 6.O.2 will annually raid ESA savings set aside for individual disabled children. These parents have been carefully saving over the years for large expenses, like Jordan's vocation training. Shame on you!
People went bananas when they were tricked into thinking that ESAs had 20% fraud, yet don’t react at all when schools fail 60% of the time to bring students to proficiency.
@arizona_sos The Arizona Public school system ranked 48 out of the 50 states. The teachers are so concerned about their political operation. They forgot to teach the kids- get an ESA grant go get a quality education, you’re sure not gonna get it from these teachers.
What about those students who were bullied so severely they have PTSD and can't re-enter the school building? What about those students who were victims of crimes at school? What about students who attend schools with proficiency rates of less than 20%? Doesn't every student deserve access to a safe, quality education? If the AZ public school provided that, families would not be choosing other options.
@azedschools Districts/Charters with biggest loss to ESA program and @azedschool's Letter Grade
1. Mesa - 1,862 - "B"
2. Deer Valley - 1,176 - "A"
3. Chandler - 1,131 - "A"
4. Peoria - 1,079 - "B"
5. American Leadership Academy - 1,069 - "A"
@azesamemes Then there are the Dem politicians who used it for their own children, but wants no one to know, and publicly pretends to be a "proud public school parent" - right @traversforaz ?
The Empowerment Scholarship Account program helps 20,000 special needs children access therapies, tutoring, and critical support services. The anti-ESA ballot initiative would revoke scholarship funds already awarded to families, hurting special needs children. #DeclineToSign
Each year, more money is spent on public schools, and each year, scores decline. That's a fact, Ms. NEA.
People shouldn't be forced to send children to the worst options. It's their money, not yours or the school systems.
As for rich people (whatever that means) not being allowed to use ESA? Okay, then they should be exempt from paying taxes that go toward public schools. That's the deal.
Prior to 2011, when Arizona enacted its ESA program, that state had consistently ranked in the bottom 10 for education. The ESA program isn't the problem.
Arizona Democrats want to take educational choice away from parents because the teachers union owns their agenda.
ESAs and charter schools force the system to compete. That is why the left hates them.
@parthurgraff@JoeDanaReports@CraigHarrisNews ESA families using saved funds for college frees up scholarships and grants for other students. It's a win-win for all AZ students!
We are now in a weird era where a guy gets publicly shamed for running his sprinklers on a Tuesday, while a data center the size of a Costco quietly drains a reservoir so AI can generate a picture of your cat as a medieval knight. And the data center gets a tax incentive for it.
@Hanner66 Look who decided to believe the propaganda lies instead of doing just a little bit of independent investigation before posting. Way to look ignorant, Scott!
The average person has no idea how truly deceivious & destructive the Teacher’s Unions are.
They take TEACHER’S DUES & spend it on POLITICAL GARBAGE like their NEW EVIL planned AZ LEGISLATION to TAKE AWAY PARENT’S EDUCATIONAL CHOICE for THEIR CHILDREN, removing ESA.
