Our success in Tiverton & Honiton was the start of an @LibDems revival in the south west. @LibDems gains on @MidDevonDC and @EastDevon; electing @SarahDykeLD in Somerton & Frome; and taking @DorsetCouncilUK shows that the West Country demands better.

Take out the Labour islands of Exeter & Plymouth, add in tactical voting on the scale of Somerset/Dorset = the prospects for return to Lib Dem MPs for much of Cornwall & Devon are HUGE!
@tompjparkin@guardian@LibDems Three very important issues Tom particularly given the party has distinct policies on all of them. However I think a promotion of the guaranteed basic income as a means to tackle poverty and take account of the changes coming in the world of work is also needed.
It was great to welcome @EdwardJDavey to Dorset https://t.co/HBgj9xEJjb was a pleasure to be part of the winning @WestDorsetLD team that was successful last Thursday deliver a @LibDems Council in Dorset. A fantastic launch pad for the campaign for our PPC @EdwardMorelloWD .
"The Lib Dems believe they can use the victory to overturn Tory majorities at the general election, winning the West Dorset, and Mid Dorset and Poole constituencies."

Neil is a friend of mine and I know that he'll be a fantastic councillor for the Eggardon Ward. Best of luck to him in this new position, I know he'll do a great job.
I wouldn’t want you to think that I’d let a little thing like the results get in the way of me fulfilling my manifesto. So here in all its majesty is the London Mayoral Election 2024, presented in Ceefax.
Another big moment of locals is that Lib Dems beat Tories to second place on seats won, for first time since 1996.
Their revival in South West continues (securing control of Dorset for first time) while chances of a ‘Portillo moment’ with eg Jeremy Hunt or Michael Gove grow.

The Conservative loss of the West Midlands Mayor . It feels like Andy Street is the Michael Portillo of this election. Goodbye @Conservatives.
@LibDems now the second party in the country
On Day 2 of Dorset's election @WestDorsetLD have won 17/20 seats on Dorchester Town Council, 15/20 on Bridport, and 8/12 on Sherborne; retaining control of all 3. Thank you to all our candidates for all their hard work, an amazing result!
As the @LibDems take control of 2 new councils and become the largest party in several more with almost 100 net gains, the press prepare to interview the big winner of the night Reform leader Richard Tice and his two councillors.
May the 4th be with you. Greetings from Lib Dem controlled Dorset. Huge thanks to @EdwardMorelloWD the campaign teams and @LibDems new councillors from @WestDorsetLD and @SouthDorsetLD who have worked so hard to deliver yesterday's win.
Both BBC & Ch4 seem incapable of keeping up with new News, stuck with election results at early evening level, failing to report later Lib Dem victories (esp dramatic Dorset) & getting more Cllrs than Tories: do researchers all go to bed at 7pm?
At 22:23 Libdems second largest party, with over 500 Cllrs and gains of over 100!
Tories have lost almost half their Cllrs defending.
@LibDems gain Dorset & Tunbridge Wells.
Also Labour only up 173 Cllrs.
Huge congratulations to all the candidates and the whole @WestDorsetLD team. Its been a wet, cold campaign but worth every minute of it. Also thanks to the people of Dorset for giving us the chance to improve local government for them.
