He appointed 6 of 9 City Rent Guideline Board to get this rent freeze passed. These members were NOT independent but got into office because Mamdani got them in.

But what does all this matter as nearly 45% of New Yorkers Collect welfare, Medicaid, or food stamps.

Soon, the freebies will run out, as the likes of Ken Griffin take their employees to Florida and Texas.

Congrats to the 2M rent stabilized apt dwellers, you win a rent freeze. Since your landlords’ expenses weren’t frozen, don’t be surprised if the state of your building deteriorates.

For market rate renters, this won’t help you. In fact, policies like this scare housing providers and developers. Fewer supply means higher rents in the future.

🚨 Socialist Democrat NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani met privately with rich business owners, and reportedly tried to convince them to stay in New York City after his, "tax the rich," push led to corporations moving to lower-tax states like Texas and Florida.

Mayor Mamdani met with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon as he tries to soothe business leaders who are angry over his policies.

He reached out, unsuccessfully, to Citadel CEO Ken Griffin who halted a business venture in the city after Mayor Mamdani filmed a 'Tax Day' video promotion in front of Ken Griffin's Manhattan penthouse.

Griffin called the video a "personal attack," "creepy and weird," and "frightening," and said it showed a "profound lack of judgment." Citadel is expanding in Miami and shifting investments away from New York in response.

Mayor Mamdani has also met with Blackstone's Jonathan Gray and Bank of America executives.

Dimon highlighted that New York City has the highest corporate and personal income taxes, and warned a repeat of the 1970's, when about half of 125 Fortune 500 companies left NYC due to taxes, rents, and costs, is on the horizon calling Mayor Mamdani's policies, "a disaster for a city."
