I remember Ian joining the cast of The Archers in 1995. Roy's storylines were dramatic and diverse, but always carried off with aplomb by a talented actor and lovely, lovely man. God bless, sweetheart.
Ian Pepperell, known for his role as Roy Tucker in The Archers, has sadly died at the age of 53.
The actor, who appeared in the BBC Radio 4 drama for more than 20 years, died on Friday after a long illness.
"Ian was the perfect Archers actor," The Archers editor Jeremy Howe said. "It is tragic that he died in his prime, we will miss him dearly."
Pepperell played long-suffering hotelier Roy Tucker for 22 years in the drama produced at the BBC's studios in Birmingham.
@under_blue_sky I reread Lost for Words this week to tide me over / stoke my anticipation for the paperback of Found. Can't wait to reunite with LJ. Thank you for what you do x
@MissEmerKenny @LlaurenLyle@valmcdermid Thank you so much for Karen Pirie on TV. KP means a great deal to me, so I was anxious, but you did a great job and I loved everything about it. Congratulations 👏👏👏
Tight recording schedules can challenge the radio actor's efforts to serve the two muses of drama and chatting. David Warner could segue from one to the other in a heartbeat while maintaining total command of both. Tremendous company, great actor. RIP
