It’s super fun seeing people get very mad at Knies rumours and proposals talking about how he isn’t worth that much when it’s been constantly repeated that the Leafs won’t let him go unless there’s overpay
Morgan Rielly’s agent J.P Barry has submitted a list of 4 Western based teams Rielly is willing to go to. This will be a team by team assessment and depending on the fit, there could be some flexibility to add teams to the list.
Almost exactly 3 years ago, Kyle Davidson, GM of the Chicago Blackhawks, was interviewed about the NHL without being recognized.
This is because the interviewer could sense that he doesn’t actually know shit about hockey
this is such a tired take, imo. sure, market pressure + anonymity plays into things for some, but so does joining a team that built itself into a destination with the lifestyle, amenities, and most importantly, willingness to win at all costs.
Congrats to Canadian media for getting what they wanted, by the way. Created the perfect shitstorm to piss off the player and drive him fully out the door.
If the Ottawa Senators are willing to let Brady Tkachuk go to a divisional rival shouldn't that raise some red flags for the Florida Panthers? Or does that only work when a player goes to Toronto?
This is the result of hockey being pretty much only being accessible to rich kids from the suburbs. The players grow up coddled with no real struggles, and then become adults with fragile psyches who are scared of the spotlight and want to hide in small markets where nobody cares
My understanding is the Senators also had conversations with Carolina and Vegas, other teams that were on Tkachuk's list. I also think Minnesota was on the list. Four-team list but in the end, Brady obviously wanted to go join his brother in Florida.
Senators made the best of a tough situation.
Checked in with pending UFA Radko Gudas as it relates to his interest in playing in Toronto if Maple Leafs express interest in the event he reaches free agency on July 1.
He told me, “I am open to anything.”
@KevinWeekes reported Leafs / Panthers as potential fits

Darren, the #Leafs finished 28th of 32 franchises last season. You’re not joining a “great team”. It is far worse than the club you just left. The pressure will be on you to help the Leafs move upward in the standings. Come in without delusion. It will serve you well. And, the fan base. #LeafsForever #Lightnjng
@VezinaToskaIa@politicstcan@Blueblood_34 I do think the ranges being split into 1D/2D/3D levels is misleading since the point of isolated impact is that all outside context (teammates, competition, TOI) is being ignored
@VezinaToskaIa@politicstcan@Blueblood_34 It’s not even necessarily that, this guy simply doesn’t know how to read it 😭 Raddysh was moved to top pair minutes against tougher competition and a chart that ignores both those things still had his impact as high. Meanwhile Dermott dominated 3rd pair TOI in a sheltered role
Good God, do we overrate players in this losing city. A rival GM would need to be severely drugged to give up an elite defenseman and a first-round pick for Knies, who is okay, but not close to a difference maker. What a fu**ed up hockey market this is.😱😩 #Leafs#LeafsForever
