How is an old government declared illegitimate and a new government declared the true successor?

Months before the actual transition, the following are achieved in advance:

• Civil society and activists get prepared for big uprisings.
• Media narratives are pre-seeded.
• Foreign officials provide cover.

The last point is what this drop is all about. You saw it last night - as soon as Lula "won" the election, EU officials and Alex Soros immediately swept in with their congratulations. That is a deliberate strategy to grant Lula legitimacy, not an organic congratulations.

The idea is to saturate the people with the idea that "this is the legitimate government, and you will accept it."

In these files, we see the various NGOs strategize on how to reach out to governments in advance and prepare them for what is coming. We also revisit how USAID OTI, the regime change arm of USAID, allegedly re-organized themselves inside the country.

We record one meeting taking place between Horizons Project and Catalonia officials. That we were able to document a meeting at all is unusual, because I'm told that these meetings are generally arranged at the highest levels and kept off the record (think Jake Sullivan, Norm Eisen level).

James Comey and the DOJ have been going back and forth on this criminal Information since earlier this month.

It was just made public.

The government is fighting James Comey’s request to throw out the charges against him.

Comey says the law only lets the government use a special 10-year time limit for certain espionage charges if they get a formal grand jury indictment.

He argues that the shorter criminal “information” the government filed instead doesn’t count. The government says he’s wrong about what the law means.

In October 2016, a New York Times reporter published a story about Yahoo helping the U.S. government spy on emails.

The story used anonymous government sources and included classified information that had never been public before.

The details in the story matched an internal government email that had gone out to about 30 people in the intelligence community just a few hours earlier.

That email was meant to respond to a Reuters article from the day before. Investigators say Comey tried to fix what he saw as wrong information in the Reuters story by having staff talk to the Times reporter, and that this resulted in classified information being improperly shared.

The government says Comey’s request to dismiss the case is too early.

Right now there is only an information, and Comey has not even appeared in court yet, so there is nothing for the judge to dismiss.

On the main issue, the government says the 10-year time limit applies even when they use an information.

The general rule already says either an indictment or an information can start the clock, and the special espionage law only changed how long the clock runs—it did not change which charging documents count.
