Effective teachers and trainers are indispensable in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Prioritising key elements such as attractiveness of teaching as an occupation, robust personnel policies, adequate status, compensation, and career progression, strong practical components in pre-service education, merit-based selection with a probationary period, continuous high-quality in-service training, and access to appropriate technology, can significantly enhance the effectiveness of TVET educators. #TVET #Education #Teachers #Training @Muoria_Dr@kstvet@edwintarno@EduMinKenya@TVET_MoE@UNESCO
Technology plays a crucial role in transforming TVET, improving access, equity, quality, and relevance. While it offers immense benefits, it also brings risks such as widening the digital gap. The rapid changes in education highlight the vast potential of technology in TVET. EdTech presents a wide array of opportunities to elevate teaching and learning through the integration of technological tools and educational principles. #Technology #TVET #EdTech #EducationTransformation
Building better formal TVET systems in low- and middle-income countries such as Kenya is crucial for sustainable development. The TVET promise lies in its ability to contribute to employment and productivity, shaping a brighter future. However, challenges persist, including the need to enhance access, equity, quality, and relevance.
To pave the way for better TVET, focusing on key policy priorities is essential. These priorities are designed to achieve critical transformations that are integral to the success of TVET systems. By diligently working towards and sustaining these transformations, we can create a more robust and effective TVET landscape for the benefit of individuals and economies alike.
Achieving excellence in TVET requires more and better investments in such factors as the capacity of human resources—teachers, trainers, and institution leaders—reinforcing the TVET ecosystem, and a laser focus on being demand-driven.
