What Really Happened at JJ Marg Police Station That Night?

On August 13, gaurakshk activists organized an indefinite hunger strike outside JJ Marg Police Station. The protest began peacefully, and the overall atmosphere remained calm for quite some time.

However, after some time, a man in plain clothes was seen around the police station. It is alleged that he stayed there for a while and then began provoking the protesters. Within a short time, the atmosphere became tense.

The police then took the man away from the spot. However, it is alleged that after this, the police action shifted toward the protesting cow protection activists.

Some of the activists were taken inside the police station. It is alleged that they were assaulted there and that their mobile phones were also taken away. The protesters allege that in an area of the police station that was not under CCTV surveillance, several policemen in plain clothes assaulted one of the activists, leaving him injured.

This raises a serious question: If the police action was carried out according to the law, why was it necessary to take the protesters to an area outside CCTV surveillance?

After keeping the activists inside the police station for some time, PI Raees Sheikh allegedly told them that their demands had been accepted by the DCP and that the requested action would be taken soon.

It was reportedly assured that action would be taken within 15 days, despite the fact that there had been no progress on the matter for several months.

Now the questions remain:

If action was going to be taken, why did it take several months?
If the protest was peaceful, how did the atmosphere suddenly become tense?
And if the police action was justified, why did the alleged assault take place outside CCTV surveillance?

The cow protection activists allege that the entire incident followed a pattern in which the atmosphere was first made tense, the protesters were then subjected to action, and finally assurances of action were given to bring the situation under control.

A fair and impartial investigation, examination of the CCTV footage, and accountability for the alleged police assault are now necessary.
