OTHER MANIFESTATIONS OF SCD
No 10. Stroke:
Yes, kids about a year old get stroke too from SCD; Adults as well.
Anyone can experience it if there is a sickle cell-induced blockage in any of the tiny blood vessels supplying the brain.
Remember that the brain controls our thoughts, what we feel and what we do
The part of the brain starved of blood gets damaged and stops functioning properly
If it's the part that controls sight, the child/adult becomes blind. Etc. involving hearing, feeling, and using the limbs
OTHER MANIFESTATIONS OF SCD
No 9. Eye problems:
Recurrent blood vessel blockage in the tiny vessels of the eyes can lead to damage; Many times unnoticeable until you have a thorough eye examination.
This is raised blood pressure in the lungs due to the recurrent blood vessel blockage, resulting in lung damage, healing, and scarring that goes on from birth in sickle cell disease.
Doctors should look out for it in Adults living with SCD.

OTHER MANIFESTATIONS OF SCD
No 6. Sequestration crisis:
This is frequent in children with SCD.
Blood pools in the spleen and/or liver.
The spleen/liver enlarges quickly in a few days.
There is also rapidly dropping blood levels.
It is life-threatening. (Is any of them not?)
Yesterday was #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
And all i really wanted to say was,
I AM STILL HERE. I AM STILL HOLDING ON. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER.....
BUT I AM STILL HERE....
