Unbelievable: For the first time in the history of America, a President was impeached not once but twice for attempting to extort a foreign leader in exchange for dirt against his political opponent, and for inciting an insurrection.

And House Republicans will hold a vote this week to expunge those impeachments from Trump's record.

According to a Politico scoop, GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made a secret promise to Trump that he would hold a vote to expunge Trump's two impeachments, a promise that McCarthy denies. He was being pressured by the disgraced former President for an endorsement, and offered up the ill-advised expunging idea instead.

Multiple moderate House Republicans have indicated that they wish neither to revisit Trump's impeachments nor his January 6th involvement, as that will put vulnerable House Republicans' reelection hopes at risk.

Furthermore, another risk posed would be if the measure fails to pass, the risk of embarrassment would be huge. “The problem is: If you have an expungement, and it goes to the floor and fails — which it probably will — then the media will treat it like it’s a third impeachment, and it will show disunity among Republican ranks. It’s a huge strategic risk,” said one senior GOP member.
