The paradox of growth: your mind is finally seeing the absolute truth, but your nervous system is completely overwhelmed by the sheer velocity of the change.

Can space weather cause physical pain?! βοΈ
Over the last two years, as we've entered Solar Cycle 25 and seen an increase in intense solar activity and auroras, I noticed a pattern with my hypersensitive friends on the spectrum. They consistently reported unusually debilitating physical pain and emotional volatility, frequently around major aurora sightings! We're talking like writhing in pain on the bathroom floor. My curiosity led me down a rabbit hole towards a community of thousands of people apparently experiencing the same.
There's a very limited, but fascinating and emerging body of research looking at how space weather and geomagnetic shifts potentially interact with human biology, especially for hyper-responsive nervous systems. Because our bodies rely entirely on electrochemical signals, the theory is that major fluctuations in Earthβs magnetic field could interfere with our bio-electricity, disrupting autonomic nervous system regulation and even altering the circadian rhythms that govern melatonin and serotonin production. What an intriguing thought. I wanted to see for myself if we could use tech to explore this.
I searched the App Store and found countless space-weather apps, but while many touched on health as a side thought, I couldn't find a single one where health was the main focus. So, I sat down with @claudeai one weekend and built an app called SomaSun! It pulls real-time solar and geomagnetic data to help people track their physical symptoms alongside solar events, with a report that builds and shows potential patterns over time. On another weekend, I'll build out blind logging, a time-series control framework, and other guardrails to try to strip out bias as much as possible. But let's start here.
On the App Store now! βοΈ

Every person who wants to make a difference at some point has to decide whether they care more about the peoples lives theyβre changing or the peoples opinions theyβre offending.
I would love to spend 20 minutes on the internet without being advertised Botox, weight loss, makeup, and anti aging products.
