What a super photograph of these cycle carriers, a real gem, all brand new ready for service. I have been in touch with Pashley Cycles and they said that they could have supplied these to the Southern Railway. #SouthernRailwayMagazine#SouthernRailway#Tricycles@pashleycycles
@MrLiskatraz Hi Steve, I haven't posted anything new for a while due to family circumstances. All my previous posts are still available so have a look through. I have got lots of Southern Railway Magazines still to post but just don't have the time to digitise & write the posts at present.
The Kent County Show was held at Shorncliffe in 1930 & the Southern Railway had the job of transporting the animals. (The horse does not look as though he fancies a trip on a train?) This was the last time it would be held in Folkestone. #SouthernRailwayMagazine@kentcountyshow
@GordonDudman@SunnySouthSam Thanks Gordon - didn't realise 1st aid in the traditional railway sense was phased out.
On Harrow & Wealdstone's impact more widely, this piece by @garius in @lonrec is excellent: https://t.co/lP1VugZ2yA
@SunnySouthSam Thanks! Very interesting - wonder how/ why this came up; presumably at the smaller/ less busy stations, where the need for 1st aid was less frequent?
Get your gas mask on, we're off to 1942, to July/August for 3 weeks. Starting June 1st we get to see the naming ceremony for a MN Class, take a look at Royal Trains, see new track laid rapidly plus News from the wartime divisions. #SouthernRailwayMagazine#WW2#SouthernRailway
Ambulance Section News: The General Manager reports that "ambulance appliances provided at stations & depรดts leaves much to be desired" interesting article including a list of equipment & care of stretchers. One for @RWLDproject#SouthernRailwayMagazine#SouthernRailway
From the Editors Postbag: A trip on the river Thames on a Salter Brothers vessel, they have been in operation for 160 years https://t.co/PdUMib6Ds8 let's hope they continue after the current situation? #thamesrivercruises#SouthernRailwayMagazine#SouthernRailway
Our home base the @S_C_Railway was targeted by vandals today. The railway is seeking donations to help repair the damage. Any donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
@_mjward I went from June 1940 as 'Operation Dynamo' was to late to make copy for the May edition there are some references to the evacuation but this image ๐ has information as to figures for the Southern Railway in general. I'll have a look at 'War on the line' later.
