Social distancing means less capacity for elevators and less people in building lobbies. If buildings reopen up fully with social distancing requirements, interventions are needed to keep elevator queues under control. Turns out there are ways to make elevators more efficient!

In my paper with my student Yeqing Zhou, we show that opaque selling can be used to balance inventory and drive down costs. We show that only a few customers need to buy opaque products to see big impact. We prove our results using ball-into-bins theory! https://t.co/7EEUhxR4SG
