@riftboundop Trying to stay positive, but the humility response is not it. We can understand after the first time this happened, but by now you should have a better idea of what the community wants and have better planning in place. Improvements should have been discussed already.
@PiscoLitty Faithless electors are more likely to occur under an electoral college world with two macro criteria for determining how to allocate their states EV’s. It provides unprecedented political cover for it. Stop being bad faith.
@PiscoLitty You've made the mistake of looking so deeply into the process that you have lost the plot. It's ok. I know you're lawyer brained and I still love you.
@PiscoLitty When you have two levels of criteria (NPV vs SPV) determining how to allocate electoral votes, they are not counted the same. Unless, your using a 1st graders interpretation of counting. If so, my bad I thought you were smarter than that.
@PiscoLitty @multiracialkpop Are you saying you want to live in a world where a coalition of THE SAME 270 EV majority of the United States could effectively dictate every presidential election? Also it does take away EV's of other states, votes are only votes when they matter at the time the vote is cast.
@multiracialkpop @PiscoLitty I would argue that having exclusively one NPV states dictating the head of the federal government would increase the power of those states over the what the constitution allows. If not by letter, certainly in spirit.
@multiracialkpop @PiscoLitty 2/ Now that last paragraph on that page says "...the Supreme Court has adopted a functional interpretation in which only compacts that increase the political power of the states while undermining federal sovereignty require congressional consent."
@PiscoLitty Explain to me if we had unfaithfully electors in Illinois, and New York (NPV states) how we would have enforced the NPV compact if the these electors didn't like the results and abandoned the compact.
@PiscoLitty Are you saying that the interstate compact doesn't encroach upon the just supremacy of the federal government even though it nullifies the electoral votes of any state not a part of the compact? We're talking about the how to choose heads of the federal government still, right?
@PiscoLitty 1. They aren't federally enforced
2. The state level enforcement doesn't exist in most states.
3. I think having multiple macro level systems for allocating potentially unfaithful electors is pretty relevant IANAL
Can you answer my question about Article 1 section 10 clause 3?🙂
@PiscoLitty I'm not a constitutional scholar, but could you also provide me with your expertise on how the interstate compact doesn't violate Article 1 section 10 clause 3 of the constitution?
