Apparently, this is one of the earliest known photographs of the sacred Kedarnath Dham, taken in 1882.
Couldn’t take my eyes off it.
No roads. No railheads. No helicopters.
Just the abode of Lord Shiva, cradled by the Himalayas
Back then, the yatra demanded time, endurance, & faith. The journey wasn’t incidental; it WAS the pilgrimage.
Today, access is easier. And that’s a good thing because it opens the experience to many more.
But perhaps something still needs preserving?
The ability to slow down & savour the experience of traveling.
Because journeys are about who we become along the way.

Currently there are roughly 100 bears living in that valley. Humans, when settling the bears there back then, were - and get this - PLANNING on only about 50.
Like, what the fuck?
Humanity proves its stupidity yet once again; as if you could PLAN anything of such a calibre >>
So... in North Italy - in a valley that's partly populated, and also popular with tourists and such - a jogger has been killed by a bear, apparently.
A bear that's part of the bears that were settled there somewhere around 2000 for repopulation purposes. >>
#Trente#Italy#Bears WHY would you want to kill the bear who killed a human, who was entering his habitat?!!! People need to #respect#WildAnimals in their own habitat!! #Legambiente

Tragic a human has lost his life but the bear was probably scared or startled, in its environment / home . So needless to hunt the bear down and kill it . Could understand if the near had walked into a town etc

Watched #LalSinghChadha last evening. I thought it was a brilliant adaptation of Forrest Gump in the Indian context. It had a number of excellent social messages. Was also a tearjerker. Everyone who can, should watch it.
@minicnair When I realized that vegetarianism starts the cycle of cruelty, I turned vegan. Leather & animal meat products are byproducts of dairy industry. Vegetarians, if you consume dairy then you are unknowingly sending cows to the slaughterhouses. Nothing to feel superior about.
@WhiteHouse@POTUS Ukraine remains the only country in history to voluntarily give up its nuclear weapons. It surrendered an arsenal of around 5,000 missiles and bombs in 1994 in exchange for security guarantees from Russia and the West.

@taslimanasreen why should women go through an immense amount of pain to feel ‘connected’ to their babies ? men dont go through any pain but nobody says that they dont have the same level of attachment for the baby as the mother
In 2010, 13 countries had wild tigers.
Since then, they hv gone extinct in 3; reduced in numbers in other 3 & hv barely remained stable in 2.
Among the remaining 5, #India is leading on the 'increase' in tiger numbers.
Time to feel proud of India's #Tiger Conservation efforts🐅🐯
The dairy industry is responsible for the killing of 35,800,000 buffaloes in 2020 in India. This is the worst genocide in history. #DitchDairy and #GoVegan because #dairyiscruel
@ajitbhinder@GodlyBeast3@srivatsayb You are old enough to know the great recession of 2008 when the whole freaking world was on its knees but Manmohan Singh kept it at 10%. Or were you selling chai with the great PM?
