Acharya Prashant's weekly column in The Pioneer, 9th May '26:
'Super Monday': Boredom as ballot, spectacle as sovereignty
➖️✨️➖️✨️
"Beneath all the noise of Super Monday, there's only one question worth asking: if the voter has changed his government for the seventh or the fifteenth time, and if the quality of what is governed has remained constant, if the problems said to have motivated each successive verdict continue in their essential form, at what point does the ceremony of changing governments begin to look less like the exercise of popular sovereignty and more like the elaborate activity of a self that has decided never to examine what has not changed?"

“Acharya Prashant receives fresh death threat over remarks honouring Dr Ambedkar” ~ Punjab Kesri Report
“A spokesperson for the Foundation said that such threats are not new and tend to follow his public statements on sensitive topics. ‘Whenever he speaks in support of women, one group reacts aggressively. When he speaks against superstition, another section targets him. Similarly, his remarks against terrorism invite backlash from different quarters,’ he said.”

"Indians spend nearly double on weddings compared to education," according to a recent report by Jefferies, an investment banking and capital market firm.
This observation resonates with our lived experience.
It's starkly visible all around us, yet we seldom question it.
Even now, the entire country is in awe of wedding extravaganzas and star-studded guest lists.
Unfortunately, we have lost sight of the ground reality.
Let's take a look at some facts to understand this issue better:
🚨 Weddings:
➖ The average Indian wedding costs around ₹20 lakhs ($24,000).
➖ The Indian wedding industry is estimated to be worth ₹10 lakh crore ($130 billion) annually.
➖ Wedding expenses are often disproportionate to income levels, with some spending up to 15 times their annual earnings on weddings.
🚨 Education:
➖ India's national education budget for 2023-24 is ₹1.13 trillion ($14 billion).
➖ Total education expenditure (national + state) is about 2.9% of GDP.
➖ Average annual household expenditure on education per student:
₹8,331 for general courses.
₹50,307 for technical/professional courses.
🚨 Where Are We Going Wrong?
➖ Scale of Expenditure: The wedding industry ($130 billion) dwarfs the national education budget ($14 billion).
➖ Individual Spending: An average wedding (₹20 lakhs) costs significantly more than annual education expenses per student (₹8,331 - ₹50,307).
➖ Income Disparity: Wedding costs can be 15 times the annual income for some families, while education spending is a much smaller fraction of household income.
🚨 How Is This Hurting the Nation?

Yes, Elon. We indeed mark your words!
But your “Population Collapse” narrative is factually incorrect and misleads the public from the real danger.
🚨 Hoax of Population Collapse
- 2100 Projection: Pessimistic estimates put the world population at 8.8 billion 🌍, while the UN projects 10.4 billion. This is still 800 million more people than today.
- Regional Changes (2022-2050): Only eastern and southeastern Asia will see a decline 📉. Sub-Saharan Africa's population will nearly double from 1.2 billion to 2.1 billion.
- Long-term Decline: If the global fertility rate stays at 1.84 babies per woman 👶 (UN's 2100 estimate), the population will decline to 1.97 billion by 2500 and 227 million by 3000, indicating a gradual decline over millennia, not an imminent collapse.
🔥 Equation of Climate Change = Increasing Population x Higher Consumption
The growing global population significantly contributes to climate change 🌡️. More people lead to increased greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption. Here are some key statistics:

@tsb_1997 @melqtx It means that the only thing you can do is to try your best with absolute honesty and unbiased logic, and you don't have any kind of authority on the results.
@disc0infernal@Rothmus That’s the philosophy of Vedanta. The teachers/philosophers back then were fighting the exact thing that has consumed our minds now, which is “I have my truth, you have yours. I have freewill to believe in any truth.” Multiple truths mean false and such belief is delusional.
