I was truly inspired by Cohort 13, the newest graduating class of SCOE’s Leadership Institute! During yesterday’s ceremony, 72 participants were recognized for earning a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential that will open doors for school administration positions.

Thanks to 916 INK, a local arts-based creative writing and literacy nonprofit, students from Nathaniel S. Colley Jr./Sr. High School are now published authors. “Yellow All Around Us” is filled with heart-felt original poetry and was celebrated at a book-signing event last week.

I am proud to say that over 1,800 Sacramento County seniors earned the Biliteracy seal this year! The seal recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of our students and their mastery of more than one language.

Congratulations to Bill Garvey, for being named SCOE’s 2024 Teacher of the Year. Bill is a teacher in the Adult Re-Entry Program at the Sacramento Community Based Coalition (SCBC). The program is designed to assist those who are transitioning from custody to community.
