The 12th Bipartite Settlement is a significant milestone in the history of Indian banking as it aims to improve the working conditions, wages and benefits of bank employees and officers. One of the key provisions of the settlement is the introduction of a 5-day banking system, which will not only benefit the employees but also improve the overall efficiency and productivity of the banking system.
With the increasing workload and stress on bank employees, a 5-day banking system will help to reduce the burden on employees and improve their work-life balance. It will also enable banks to operate more efficiently, as they will be able to manage their resources better and reduce overhead costs.
Moreover, a 5-day banking system will be in line with international best practices, as many countries have already adopted a 5-day banking system. It will also help to improve the overall customer experience, as banks will be able to provide better services and attention to their customers during the reduced working hours.

In light of the above, we request you to consider our long pending demand for a 5-day banking system as per the 12th Bipartite Settlement. We believe that this will not only benefit the banking community but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the Indian economy towards Viksit Bharat by 2047

Our @BankofIndia_IN esteemed Executive Director, *Shri Rajiv Mishra ji, along with CGM HR, Shri Rajesh Ingle ji* along with Other executives, inaugurated the event and engaged warmly with the participants. The day unfolded with incredible energy, as over 350 participants amazed us with their skills and enthusiasm. *Later, our esteemed Executive Director, Shri M. Karthikeyan ji, graced the felicitation ceremony and honored the winners*.

"In 2010, PSU banks employed 8.1 lakh staff, efficiently managing workloads and ensuring customer satisfaction. Today, staff strength has fallen to just 5.6 lakh (a 30% drop), despite a surge in business and profitability.

Over the past decade, PSU bank profits have quadrupled, from ₹44,901 crore in FY10 to a record ₹1.4 lakh crore in FY24. This translates to per-employee profits increasing by 4x, yet the number of officers per branch continues to decline.

The impact? Remaining staff are overburdened, customers face delays, and service quality suffers. This isn’t just a #WorkLifeBalance issue—it’s a systemic crisis that threatens the future of Indian banking.

While discussions around #5DaysBanking are important, the immediate need is staff recruitment to address this growing gap. Without adequate manpower, the very foundation of public sector banking is at risk.

@DFS_India must urgently prioritize large-scale recruitment drives to restore balance, improve services, and relieve staff from unsustainable workloads. Profits mean little if the workforce driving them is stretched to the brink.

A banker is often subjected to tremendous stress & tends to run against time for shouldering personal & professional responsibilities. With this thought, we believe Health check up camp for bankers is one of the most befitting ways to celebrate this day.This welfare oriented drive is for sake of wellbeing of the banking community which is often subjected to tremendous stress & hustle. It will be a befitting tribute to the historic trade union movement .
